Maybe once every 2 months or so.
ETA we usually use one of my IL's to babysit
same. except it's my SIL.

Never. We use either my parents or ILs and go out once every couple of months.

Wow! I am so surprised at all the nevers! We go out all the time. We are cutting back expenses so we are trying to rely only on family but I still feel like we make it out a decent amount.
I am curious as to what is stopping most people? Is it not trusting other people to watch your kids? Is it financial? Is it having no desire to go out alone as adults? We are very lucky because we have family nearby, but even in the past we had a handful of hired babysitters that our kids really love!

We have no family to help. And my daughter has epilepsy and my son is a tornado and I would worry all night with someone god forbid something happened
If we had family or even a friend to watch. I would def be out

Never. It's not of interest to us to use a stranger so we can go out to eat, etc.

This is what we do. We go out alone together during the day when the kids are occupied at school & daycare. Sometimes it's just a lunch break, other times we take an extended lunch break. And it's been working out just fine. Day dates are a lot less costly than night date because of the sitter factor.

maybe about 6-10x a year. Only person I will leave my kids with is my mom or sister inlaw. I don't like to ask a lot because they both work a lot.

for us its a combination of stuff. we have no family anywhere close to help out. my parents are the closest- about 2 hours away, but they are retired and travel literally 6 months a year. my in laws are 4.5 hours away. my husband is an only child, and my 1 sister has a 10 month old of her own and works full time.
AND we just haven't found non-family that we trust. our boys are 6 and 3 and energetic and can just be a lot to handle. (no matter how much we try!) Plus its the whole thing of making sure the sitter knows where everything is for them, how to work the TV, what their bedtimes are, figuring out quick food for the boys and/or sitter while trying to get all dressed up to go out..... and then adding $60-$80 to the cost of our nice meal, to pay the sitter. HAHAHA
I'm a SAHM mom, though and DH is off every other Friday- so a lot of times we'll fit in a breakfast date while older DS is at school and younger DS is at his half day preschool.
It is what it is...

How often do you use a sitter for date nights?
i'll say one thing we're done a few times is "Parent Night Out" at The Little Gym. they do it once a month- its 3 hours, and it works out nice. They give the kids pizza and a snack, the kids run around crazy in their gym, meet some other kids, and i feel good because the instructors are trained to work with kids, first aid, etc. w

How often do you use a sitter for date nights?
Once every couple of months we will have my SIL or MIL watch him while we go out to dinner. We get our time together when DS goes to bed at 7:30PM so we are able to connect with one another for 2-3 hrs then.

DH and I try to aim to go out together without kids once a week, but realistically its more like 2-3 times per month. We try to either go out for dinner alone, sometimes we meet friends for dinner, go for a massage and then grab a quick bite. We enjoy having the time to ourselves to talk and relax. For the most part we have one of our parents watch the kids while we are out.

I am pretty surprised too. DD is 7.5 and we regularly go out without her. We love taking her to dinner and she's well-behaved, but we do also enjoy our alone time. My mom is close by and wants DD for overnights at least once a month. She's been doing it since DD was an infant. We plan them around events or just to make plans with friends. We also have a lot of friends who do not have children, so we get sitters for things like bday dinners with friends, a few of our friends are in bands, so we like to go see them and the venues are not child friendly, we go to comedy shows or concerts or plays. I would say it's typically one overnight with my mom and then one other regular night where we have a sitter per month. our sitter is a family friend's 26 yr old daughter who I have known her whole life. DD loves spending time with her and she's great. It does get expensive, but DH and I both work demanding full time jobs and sometimes we just need a nice night out together or with friends.

I've never used someone who isn't family. We use family if we have a wedding to go to and on our wedding anniversary.

Over the summer we do once a week usually. During the winter it's like 1 a month or less. It's important for us.
Same for us. We don't use a sitter but we are lucky. My mom is always more than happy to stay with the kids.

How often do you use a sitter for date nights?
We pretty much only use family as a sitter. We go out pretty often. I’m a SAHM now, so I feel less guilty asking grandparents to watch the kids since we aren’t using them for every day work needs.
We have one teenage neighbor that we will probably start to use here and there next summer.

We try for once or twice a month. Sometimes more and sometimes less. We have a lot of local friends we make dinner dates with. We are also lucky to live close to my parents and inlaws. They also have a life so we have local sitters we've used too that I met in the area. The boys love their time with their grandparents and the time they spend with their teenage sitters. We enjoy a night out here and there. They've also slept at their grandparents too.
My boys are 8 and 6 so pretty easy to watch. We take them out a lot too and go out with friends where the kids sit on one end and the adults on the other.

once a month , sometimes more if we have tickets to something. We have a wonderful babysitter whom we trust.
