Hypothetical situation- if you overhear someone talking about you...

Just curious how others feel about this situation.

Let's say you are in a bathroom stall at work and as you are just about finished up in there 2 other co workers walk in- they don't realize you are in a stall.
It becomes clear that they are talking about you...they go into their stalls and continue to talk about you.

Do you
A- finish up as fast as you can, and get the heck out of there- not wanting to hear any more?

B- do the wait out in the stall and listen to hear more of what they are saying about you?

So this situation actually happened to me yesterday and for some reason, the second I realized they were talking about me I just couldn't wait to get out of there- it was almost like I just didn't want to hear any more- like I didn't want to get my feelings hurt you know?
Yet later on I was like- darn- I should have hid in there longer and to hear what else they were going to say about me....but for some reason I just didn't want to know, kwim?

Just curious how others would react? Would you listen to hear everything they had to say behind your back? Or would you high tail it out of there to avoid hearing more?

I would either stay or leave the stall and wait to they come out and see their faces when they learned I was in the stall.

I would have listened the entire conversation...then waited for them to come out of their stalls and start washing their hands...then make my grand entrance and smile the biggest knowing smile at both of them.

Sorry that happened to you.Chat Icon

people just don't think.

I always make sure no one is in the stalls before I start talking.

I would stay in the stall and at the right moment, chime in with something.

And then they would let a fart slip because they'd be all 'ohhhhh shyt'.

And then I would laugh at their fart.

I have had this happen, and both times I stayed in the stall and added to their conversation for a hot second. Heh.

Yeah I just don't get people- like you are talking shyt about someone in a public bathroom- how do you NOT make sure the stalls are empty?
I really did have the urge to yell out- guys- please stop talking about me! I'm right here!

But I just felt so embarrassed and I just wanted to get the F out of there! Ugh.

Granted- it wasn't the worst thing in the world- they weren't saying- oh she's such a bytch and she's ugly and she dresses funny. It was more like they were talking about something that I had been involved in and maybe I didn't handle 100% right- but still- it suckss to hear others talking behind your back!

Re: Hypothetical situation- if you overhear someone talking about you...

If they can talk about someone they work with of the same sex in a work bathroom they should get what's coming to them. Just stupid. Probably what they were saying was stupid and petty too.

I would have taken that info and filed it away for ammo at another time.

If I had my phone with me I might have recorded it.

I would have stayed for the whole conversation, then came out when they were washing their hands so they could know that I heard.

I would stay and listen. I wouldn't be able to help myself. I'd probably feel bad and then hold a grudge, though, so I'm not sure it would be the wisest thing to do.

Re: Hypothetical situation- if you overhear someone talking about you...

I would stay and listen..I'd be curious to hear what else my Co-workers have to say about me. It be really bad if they were so-called friends at work and they were talking crap about me. I can understand about getting your feelings hurt. But I would want to know what was said about me!!! Then as they were washing there hands I would come out. I would love to see their faces..probably wpuld look something like this....Chat Icon

So pretty much it was a situation where I lost my cool in the office- I was on the phone with my boss, my stress level was at an all time high, it was a bad week at home and at work and I blew up over something. My office door was CLOSED mind you but yes, I did get a little loud- too loud and I know I am at fault there.
But whatever- no harm was done, I moved on, I apologized, my boss moved on, issues got resolved whatever.
The next day the one woman asked me if I was ok- I said yes, sorry, it was a bad day, I apolgize if you heard stuff you shouldn't have.
She was nice about it- saying oh it happens, glad you are feeling better etc.
Now a WEEK later I am apparnetly still the talk of the office....

I would have stayed, and I wouldn't confront them but I happend to walk at the same time, I'd probably just smile.. and not say a word. They know, I know.. and maybe expect an apology from them.
