WWYD? Hypothetical situation re: ttc
My coworker & I just had an unusual discussion & I was curious what others would think/do We both have siblings (with children) that live far away (her in CA & me in England) so it lead us to the following:
Would you put off TTC for a month or two longer than you had orig planned for the following reason: Your parents (whom you are very close to) have a trip planned to visit your sibling/their other grandchildren next Xmas? If you were fortunate enough to get pg the 1st cycle that you tried, your parents would be faced w/the tough decision of leaving you alone when you might have the baby or missing Xmas w/the grandkids that they don't get to see very often.
I said I'd wait another month since I know my mom would be REALLY torn about what to do, but my coworker said she wouldn't put her life on hold for others & that they'd deal w/it if they had to. So out of curiosity, WWYD?

I wouldn't wait another month because my parents would be out of town. Eventually she will have to split a holiday between the families so it makes no difference when that starts.
But I would wait another month or two because I didn't want a winter baby.

I voted for TTC as planned. I do not take holidays, events, weddings, or anyone else's plans into consideration when it comes to trying to have a baby. If it happens, it happens and if it messes up someone else's plans, so be it. JMO.

I wouldn't wait. If you do have the baby while she is gone, then she will just see the baby when she gets back. No biggie...at least to me anyway.

Hmmm...I wonder if I'd answer this differently in a few months? We're coming off the holiday now & I watched my mom cry twice about missing my niece's 1st Christmas pageant this year (we did a Skype call & she sang us all of her songs ) Right now I'm probably feeling really mushy about the thought of making her miss it next year...I should probably re-answer this in a few weeks

I wouldn't wait. You don't know how long it will take to conceive.

ITA. My father would not have passed up being with me on my child's birth just because of a holiday. Holiday will be there again next year and hopefully for many years to come, but a child is only born once.

I thought we would get pregnant with #2 no problem, it took almost 3 years to finally have our 2nd so my TTC will wait for no one...lol Your parents can always see the baby once they get back

This is my friend's POV - it may take a long time to conceive anyway so she doesn't want to wait. She'll deal if it becomes an issue.
For me, well I guess it's easy to say we'll wait since we weren't planning on ttc any time soon anyways. I'm having surgery in Feb. & being pg would interfere

Re: WWYD? Hypothetical situation re: ttc
Crashing... I put off TTC for 6 months because I started a new job and didn't want to get pregnant right after I started. I am going on month 5 or trying and still no BFP in sight. It took this experience for me to realize that life is too short to put off my dreams for other people's convenience. If it were me I wouldn't wait to TTC.

We took longer than I expected with DS, b/c of that experience I learned I wouldn't put it on hold b/c you never know what will happen.

I'll also throw this into the mix - and I am not trying to make you go BD right now...
if you want a baby, have a baby. There are many women on this board that didn't get the chance for their children to meet their moms, their aunts or the their grandmas.
Don't put off something you want to do because someone may have travel arrangements.

Putting it on hold a month is different that 5 or 6 months .........I'd wait a month if it meant my parents would be there -

ITA. Not to be a debbie downer, but my dad died the day my son turned 1 month old.
I am so thankful he got to meet him.
Life is short. I know this is a hypothetical, but seriously, travel plans and everyone else aside, having a baby should be about when YOU are ready.
