Just curious, what are we talking about? They think you dont work hard or they dont like you?
So pretty much it was a situation where I lost my cool in the office- I was on the phone with my boss, my stress level was at an all time high, it was a bad week at home and at work and I blew up over something. My office door was CLOSED mind you but yes, I did get a little loud- too loud and I know I am at fault there.
But whatever- no harm was done, I moved on, I apologized, my boss moved on, issues got resolved whatever.
The next day the one woman asked me if I was ok- I said yes, sorry, it was a bad day, I apolgize if you heard stuff you shouldn't have.
She was nice about it- saying oh it happens, glad you are feeling better etc.
Now a WEEK later I am apparnetly still the talk of the office....
people don't have anything better to do but gossip...until something better comes up.

I totally get your desire to leave. I think I would do the same. Odd bc I am very outspoken but I agree with what you said about feeling embarrassed and nit wanting to hear more, I think I would feel the same. After I left though I would probably get fired up and wish I stayed
I also think it depends on WHO it wad. I can puncture wanting to stay fir some coworkers and wanting to flee from others lol

I would probably want to stay to hear the rest but then be worried they would realize I was there listening to them and then I'd feel even worse. (I know, THEY should be the ones to feel like A$$ES but, that's just the way I am.)
It would drive me crazy to leave though, and then wonder what else they said about me!
Yeah, if people are gonna talk about a coworker in the bathroom, they really ought to make sure the person isn't there!!

I would have gotten out of the stall, and purposely waited for each of them to get out. Then give them a big smile and said "What's up?" Biitches!

I would like to say I'd do this. But in actuality I'd probably stay to hear what they said but left after they did to avoid an awkward confrontation.
They were just talking about this on the radio this morning. A caller said they once left their phone on the table on record when she went to the bathroom during a group dinner with friends, then when she got back she stepped away to listen to what they said and heard the whole conversation about her and confronted the group when she returned.
To the OP, hope you didn't hear anything too hurtful.

I would stay and then I would wait until they were finished. I would leave my stall at the same time so that they could see I heard everything. Depending on what they said, I would probably say something right back.

I would stay in the stall and at the right moment, chime in with something.
And then they would let a fart slip because they'd be all 'ohhhhh shyt'.
And then I would laugh at their fart.
I have had this happen, and both times I stayed in the stall and added to their conversation for a hot second. Heh.
I'd do the same thing!

I would have waited for them to come out their stalls, get busy washing their hands and pop out my stall and give that "Oh yea Biznitches I was so totally in here listening to every word." face.
Then let them know in my very sweet bit ch like way that if they have anything they need to say, let me know to my face, not while on the bowl"

OMG, how stupid are they for talking about you in the public bathroom!!! I am not sure what I would have done. How uncomfortable would that have been if you walked out at the same time as them and they saw you!?!?! Ughhh, so rude - who does that!?!?!?

Exactly this! There's no way I'd let a couple of nothing better to talk about having yentas gossip about me in the bathroom without making them feel like a**holes.
