Where it all began....

I had my scariest Mommy moment today….
I was in the pool with Damien and we were making a whirlpool (we do it all the time) DH had gone inside to get ready for work and Jaidy was lying on the deck. She got up and was sitting on the deck with her feet on the pool ladder. She told me she wanted to come in and I went to grab her and she said no, it became a game and every time I passed she said the same thing. She finally said I want to come in really now and I said I would get her when I came around again, all of a sudden she was in the water. When I tried to get to her I had to go across a huge current because we had being making the whirlpool. She was floating under the water for what seemed like forever before I got to her. I grabbed her and she was coughing and gagging. As soon as I saw she was alright I started to cry hysterically and Damien got off the deck and ran for DH but DH had already left (he kissed us goodbye before going in the house) so then he ran to get my mother. I couldn't even talk to tell her what happened. Meanwhile Jaidy is comforting me saying I’m okay Mommy, see I okay. I am still in a funk about it and feel emotionally drained. I can't get the image of her under the water out of my head. Damien of course has to tell my neighbors that Jaidy almost drowned and I was crying. I have to say I am super proud of him because as soon as it happened he got right out of the pool and sat on the deck, then ran for help when he saw me crying. I keep telling him what a big brave boy he was and how proud of him I am.

That video of "Children Drown Without a Sound" is so real.
It's so true. This happened to my brother and it was silent. Luckily when my mom pulled him out of the water she through him into the side of the pool and he coughed out all of the water. But, it was SILENT! All of the sudden it was "where is Karl?" and he was on the bottom of the pool. SLipped right through his tube. This was 20 years ago and my Mom is still totally against tubes for kids.
Sorry this happened and thank GOD she is okay! So so scary! And what a great boy you have. So cool headed in an emergency!

I'm so sorry you had to endure that. We have a pool and I'm so afraid. I keep telling DH that DD should always have a vest on in the pool area, but he doesn't listen.

Your son is a very smart boy!
Im so sorry you had to go through that.
I was swimming with DS yesterday and he swallowed some water and tried to cough and couldn't...Looked like he was choking for like a split second.
OMGosh I was sooo scared.
I really need to get him into swimming lessons.
I am so glad your DD is ok.
