Do you think she is such a monster as the media is making her out to be lately? Do you feel that you would act similarly if you had 8 kids?

To answer my own question, I think she can be harsh to her DH at times, but aren't we all? I mean, I only have 2 kids and I have to be totally organized, things planned and I have to give DH direction or he wouldn't have a clue what to do.

I just feel bad that the media is making her out to be a terrible person. In my own opinion, she has a harder job than any of us could even imagine - can't they cut her a little slack??

when I watch her it just seems like shes acting for the camera alot... fake excitement when she says " its all for the kids"

I think it would be tough with 8 kids, but not so much when you have helpers coming to the house. Getting paid to be a family, and getting free vacations and products...

I am no fan of hers, but I don't think she's a monster and I do think that she genuinely loves her children. I do not agree with the way she treats his husband like an idiot.
I am sick and tired of Jon & Kate gossips, I wish people would just stop watching, so they can turn off the cameras and be a "normal" family, as Kate always like to put it, they are just a "normal" family.

I don't think she is.

And I don't think she turned into this "monster" in the past week, month or year. This is her personality and he knew that going in.

Not many people live day to day life as a parent of eight young kids, and she makes it look pretty d@mn good IMO!

Not at all. My friends used to say me & DH were just like Jon & Kate. No offense to DH, but if he's not told what to do, nothing gets done. I'm frustrated with his lack of initiative with one kid...I can imagine how I would be with 8. She's doing what she needs to do to ensure her kids future..like sending 8 kids to college.

I also think Jon is being a whiny baby. Boo hoo, you're getting paid $75K an episode to stay home with your kids instead of work..we should all be so lucky.

who would have wasted their time chatting about that rather predictable/dull show w/o something to spice it up?

I bet this whole scenario was fabricated for $$$. (why else would they be paid SOOO much for this season?)

I think she is harsh to her DH AND her kids. She is a control freak with major OCD, IMO. Did you ever see the gum episode? She behaved horribly

I remember watching an episode where is having the kids do neb treatments...she said they do it daily.

I would shoot myself in head if I had 6 treatments to do daily.

Her house was clean, kids fed...I think I would yell a lot more then her. She seems to be patient...maybe her controlling personality helps keep things together.

6 2 year olds...potty training...

I am sure a part of her was just on turbo.

My mother had 7 and believes Kate makes it way harder then it ever needed to be...but I tell my mother that she chose every pregnancy...kate thought she could handle 3 and got 8.

I love Kate - I think they are really responsible for figuring out a way to live that lifestyle and not have to depend on welfare. Its all hype for TV I think

Haha They showed a clip of her on a show recently, maybe The Soup?, and I was thinking I don't sound that different and I only have 3. And I can only imagine what the camera would capture sometimes when I'm having one of those "How come I'm the only one who knows *insert any household/childcare related task*?"

The media is brutal though and I think the general public eats up all the dirt so I don't think she will be cut a break anytime soon. I think it's sad. Just like I almost cried when a Mother of one of my DS's classmates told me she was getting a divorce. It's just sad when people who were one in love enough to marry and conceive children are now practically enemies.

ya know i think the money got to her head!! at first i could see why she was so crazy and compulsive but the last couple of years have gotten a little out of control. she has help and money. so what is there to be stressed about? she goes shopping by herself. she goes out to spas and takes vacation. she treats jon like a moron! i like her but i think she has gotten a little out of control. let's face it i wouldn't like to be talked to like a child either!

Yes, she probably has OCD and def control issues. She does not always speak nicely to Jon. But I don't always speak nicely to my DH.

From what I have read, Jon dropped out of college and then when Kate was Pg with the 6 babies, he lost his job and was afraid to tell his wife.

I have ZERO tolerance for a man that doesn't finish things, doesn't commit 100% to his job (no matter what that job may be) or a man that cannot be honest about his situation.

Yes Kate can be nasty, and probably was before marriage. Maybe his lack of intitiative was not an issue at first, but after years of dealing with that, I would probably have been mean and resentful off him too.

I give her credit for being incredibly organized, hard working and dedicated. Her children are healthy and well behaved.

That's my 2 cents.

um, if TLC was filming in my house i think the viewers might occasionally question why my DH hadn't left me yet

i am not OCD at all but if i am tired or stressed - and this is with ONE kid and only working 4 days a week! - i snap at him and i can be nasty. i am SO fortunate that he's not a whiny baby like jon and knows this is how i am.

but i also have to be prepared for him to bite back

so no, i don't think she is a monster. but i do question her and jon signing up for season five if they had any clue that their marriage was taking or going to take a turn for the worse.

but then again, i wonder if this is all media hype and they are actually working really hard to repair their marriage - and what we see on the show is just a lot of clever editing.

I like her. She has 8 raised polite, well-mannered, loved children. The media totally makes her out to be an ogre. Is she tough on Jon a lot? Yes-- but you can't tell me that she wasn't like that BEFORE they got married, so he shouldn't have been surprised by that behavior.

I don't think she is a monster at all. I think that both the show and the media have cast her that way but in reality..yes she is controlling and yes she is loud...but I highly doubt that this was new to her husband. I think that people, many women, were too fast to judge her and look down at her. I for one have never raised more than one child so I can't and won't say I know better or would do better. I think she has handled her household as best as she can and for that I give her much credit. I admire the effort that she puts forth.

My heart broke for her on the 5/25 premiere...to sit and watch her crying as she spoke around what was happening.

I don't think she's a monster, totally normal behavior for a mother of 8. I'm sure we have all had our "Kate" moments. However this show has been on for several seasons now and if I saw myself behaving that way on TV towards my husband I would be embarrassed and do my best to curb that behavior not take it up a notch.

I don't think she's a monster. I think she's had the same personality all along, and the 8 kids and cameras just accentuate it.
I didn't really like her at the beginning, and I don't really like her now.
Same goes for him.
