Yes I think she is a monster but I hate even the sight of her so I am biased. I think she is mean and I hate the way she treats her kids.

If they something to her she then looks at the camera and rolls her eyes or makes a face. Then yelling at everyone. Going to get all dolled up now. I can't stand her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I LOVE her. I think the media makes her out to be a monster because its good for ratings. I think Jon is sick of the spotlight and wants off the show, and thats straining their marriage. I think they need to end the show and focus on their family.

It started out as a documentary, and has gotten out of control. But as for my feelings about Kate, I like her.

Well, I never cared for her. I always found her to be way to controlling.(this coming from another control freak) I think the way she speaks to her husband is uncalled for, like he is two. I know some play it up for the cameras, but Im thinking she may be just that witchy IRL. I also think they should cut thier losses and focus on their children and helping them deal with the big elephant in the room. Thier lack of marriage.

I am always astonished at the way she orchestrates the kids' outfits! They are always dressed to the nines, even if they are just playing in their backyard! She is always screaming "no John, they wear THESE sneakers to school and THESE sandals to church"... With 8 kids, WHO CARES?!?!? I can't even be bothered with that stuff and I have one child!

I think a lot of it is media hype. I think John wanted out of the show, and the producers took that and ran with it.

I honestly don't think she is a monster-a control freak, ocd a bit-yes but I shamefully admit sometimes I feel like I relate to her personality hence the 8 kids. I do think the media and money DID get to her though.

I don't think she is a monster but I don't believe she is authentic either.

If you watch an old episode and then watch a current episode, you can see how much she has changed. In the old days, she would wear comfortable shoes with jeans and light makeup when she would run around with the kids. Now she is made up to the hilt, with designer clothes and heels and then comments at the kids birthday about how hard it is to walk in heels.

Her anger seems authentic but most of her other emotions seem manufactured. Even when she is at the book signings, you can see the way she interacts with the fans that she is not sincere.

All we know is what TLC allows us to see. I don't see any point in deciding she is "fake" or "overbearing" or a "control freak" unless you know her in real life.

The media controls how we see them. It's a sad situation all around.

But I still love the show.

Def not!!! I always say that I'm Kate divided by 8 since I only have one! I think we all have that in us...she just has a highly stressful life!

I really don't get why people think Jon is an incompetent father without Kate treating him like crap. He is the one who got up with them in the morning because Kate could not bare to get up before eight in the morning, then he would work full time, then come home spend time with his kids and then HE was the one to bath them and get them ready for bed. He has just as much to do with raising those kids as Kate does.

And now with all of their money, Kate seems to have become a bit of a princess. I mean she is pretty unrepeatable now, in my opinion.

I also think there is some sexism towards Jon. If the roles were reversed and Jon was the one talking to Kate the way she does to him, would women defend his actions? Absolutely not! Every woman's group in America would be on him.

I think Jon is a great dad. Just because he is not high strung like Kate, does not mean he would not get the job done.

Edited to add: As for editing the show, if Kate did not like the way she was betrayed in the show, you would think after this long she would either 1) change her attitude or 2) I am sure she has enough power to ask to see the show before air time. There may not be enough footage of her not treating people like junk to re-edit the show.

From day 1 I've called her a b*iitch and in the same breath I said but who can judge her b/c who has 6 kids? KWIM?

Would I be uptight with 8 kids? You better your life on it. I get uptight now and I have 3. I keep my cool but I feel myself getting nervous inside sometimes. Would I disrespect my Dh, No! That I can say I know I wouldn't do.
He'd be more in control than I would be. He can handle MUCH more on his plate than I can. He'd be the calm one whereas I'd be a wreck.

I have a feeling she is a b*itch naturally- even if she had 1 kid- just with so mcuh less stress. I still don't judge her. Her personality is her personality- it is what it is.

Of course they are going to cut and paste the best drama scenes they can get. I would thinki nothing less then the media displaying her as a terrible witch...who knows...

With 8 kids I think one has to right a pretty type ship. I don't think she's a monster at all. I have to say, when her kids were like 2 and I was watching the show, I thought they were so well behaved, listened, all seem to be very happy, so she is obviously doing something right with her style of parenting.

I have to say the last episode, she is A LOT nicer to Jon.

Even with the fact that she was away and one of the sextuplets got hurt.
She didnt BUG like she normally would and let Jon handle it.

so maybe she has realized how much of a difficult person she has been and how that drove him away.

ETA: I dont think shes a monster but fame has changed her!

Last episode, she changed to go see DUFF at Charm city cakes and was in heels and all.

I think she has changed way too much. As a pp stated, she used to dress in sweats and play with her kids, now she is in her designer clothes.

I think she is fake, not a monster. I'm just wondering how they are even filming now with all that is happening to the family?

I cannot imagine getting 6 josh's out to church on time every sunday..and throw in 2 more older ones.

I don't think she is a monster, but I am questioning the motive behind her doing the show. I know she needs money with 8 children, but there must be a better way. There are people that have lots of kids and have normal jobs. I just think that for her to agree to another season of filiming her family in the midst of their personal chaos is really unhealthy and not the best for her, her DH or their children. It verges on cruel.

I just want to add that I hear a lot of people (incl. the media) say that the fame got to her head, she now dresses in designer clothes, gets her hair, nails, make-up done, exercises, etc...

Well, maybe she didn't spend $ on that stuff before because they didn't HAVE money back then when they had 2 or 8 kids. So of course she'd feed & dress her family instead of buying herself clothes, getting her nails done, etc. I mean, lots of us like to look good—nice clothes, pedicures, etc…and a lot of us have to curtail spending on those sorts of things when we have kids to provide for, our needs are put on the back burner. She very well may have been the same way before SHE had kids, and now that they DO have money and she’s able to spend some $ on herself, she is doing it. Not to mention, the kids are older now and more self-sufficient, so she can exercise, eat better, go to the nail salon, etc.

maybe she just found out her DH was banging a 23 year old and she decided to undergo a makeover to feel better.

She's also not carrying and chasing 6 anymore...maybe now she doesn't have to wear sneakers..

she is guilty of awful things like denying her sister in law to appear on the show anymore b/c TLC wanted to pay..

she didnt want anyone else to make money off her family
