All the stores I could possibly need are in WW. Or next door by BBB. I always joke that if I can't get at WW then I dont need it. I also like that WW is not a hangout spot for the teenagers. And since it is a little smaller any parking spot is a good one. I am not one of people who can shop in a store like Burberry or LV. I will window shop. Lol. I just hope At this point that construction and traffic aren't a huge problem. I live very close to the mall.
Me too. Macys, Gap, JCrew, Brooks Brothers, L&T, Childrens place, Banana Republic, Gymboree, these are the key stores for me too.
I also love that the stores and lack of food court do NOT promote rowdy annoying teens hanging out. Love that so much. Works for me.

Today I asked the manager at BBB and she said they just renewed their lease a few months ago and are not getting kicked out. Same for PetSmart.

I always thought WW Mall was a subpar mall. I'm glad to hear it is expanding and improving.
Subpar bc of size? In the 80s it was pretty cheesy, but after the fire and then the last construction, it went mostly high end.
ITA...love that there's not a food court

Me too...and what will go there?? Its a pretty big store and I'm sure the rent is $$$$. I'd hate for it to sit there unoccupied and ugly.

I grew up near the Americana and was used to going to Roosevelt Field Mall.
I always thought that WW was a very small mall. It is only one level compared to other malls that are mostly multi levels. That was my impression before we had kids. (We now live in DC and Pentagon City and Tysons Corner Galleria are MASSIVE.)

Re: I just read that the Huntington Station Toys R Us is closing
I can't see them not building a few good places to eat over there, besides sbarro, California Pizza & Cheesecake Factory as being the only option.
I hope they keep the mall anti-food court though because I actually like that about WW mall, it does not attract a young crowd just hanging out and most of the crowd is family oriented.
As far as the TRU area, friend of mine went there today & heard from employees that BBB, Petsmart and Bed Bath just renewed their lease and are not going anywhere

No food court but they are going to put in more restaurants. AFAIK Sbarro will be going. Trust me - they did their research and would not add in higher end stores if they didn't think they would make money!
Being poorer though, I wish they were downgrading

The WW Mall is going to be a big building of nothing. Nobody can spend money in those high end stores in this economy. I'd rather drive 1/2 hour to Smithhaven or Roosevelt.
I dont agree. Loads of people in surrounding areas there have $$, even in this economy. That mall was bustling over the holidays.
I agree too. I grew up in CSH and for years people have been going all the way to Americana or RF for some stores that have been missing over in WW. I'm sure the addition of some stores would be a welcome. I think RF does have a lot more "higher" end stores too and there is a strong pull in that area for similar stores (i.e. LuLu lemon, Janie and Jack, Juicy). I know the Saks in WW does really well.
Agreed.
Everyone at my gym wears lululemon, now they don't have to travel to shop there. And if you keep on going north up 110 you hit CSH, LLoyd Harbor, Huntington Bay...there are still people that can afford these stores.
I am from the area and think it is a good idea. When I was growing up the WW Mall was a dump and not all that safe. I was never allowed to go alone until I was in high school.
However I am sad about Barnes and Noble! And don't want Book Revue to leaving Huntington, it bring a lot to the village where there are a lot of mom and pop shops that depend on their events.

Is Book Revue moving up to the old B&N?
I also just heard that Children's Place in the WW mall is closing this month too :(

I think they are only taking a portion of the space.

They have already portioned it off, there are at least 2 smaller stores they created plus a bigger space
So much for hoping something good would go there.
