FINGERS crossed this works for us because he has open wounds from scratching and biting. We switched to GRAIN FREE, BLUE. The guy at Petco said it was in his opinion the best in the store for dogs with allergies. Anything grain free basically. It was on sale for $45 for a medium sized bag. Im hoping to be able to find it cheaper or find coupons or something, otherwise my dog is now going on a diet.

He also had me purchase this yellow medicine to put on his hot spots and I am shocked that in 2 days (after about 4 months of constant itching an trips back and forth to the vet) he has stopped itching. I havent caught him once. So IDK if its the topical or the food, but you can bet Im going to keep up with both.

Anyway, I know an awful lot of us are in the same boat so I figured Id share Chat Icon

My cat has a protein allergy that was just recently discovered, and she can only eat Blue brand food. It's expensive....but it works!

I feed my guys the grain free blue too... and my Sam is itching. We're starting him on benedryl to see if that helps his allergies. I hadn't thought of Olive oil.. I'll try that too!

We switched our dogs to Taste of the Wild on a recommendation from out vet. He said it could take up to 6 weeks before we see any changes. We did this about a month ago and I noticed they are scratching less.

Give it a few more weeks and hopefully you will see a change.

I cant take the itching. I cant even imagine what the dogs feeling like! Is allergy testing expensive?
