I know it's wayyyy early but im scared to death of giving birth...

With DD i ended up with post partum cardio myopathy. I also had staph infection, blood infection and uterine infection and almost didn't make it. I was in ICU for a few days. My OB said that only happens to like 1 in 1,000 patents....he doesn't seem worried this time around when i saw him when i was TTC but i was so sick and it was scary as hell and im worried. I haven't talked to him about this delivery and the possibility of the poat partum cardio myopathy re-occuring...what are the odds of that happened again??

I have no clue about the chances of it happening again.

But I do know I was in a high danger zone of pre eclempsia when I was pregnant with DS. BP was so high I was put on bed rest at 32 weeks. Additionally hospitalized 2 separate occasions for 4 day stints. As well as various hospital visits for daily monitoring.

So, I have similar concerns. Especially this time around I am a SAHM to my 2.5 year old DS. Who the heck would take care of him should that happen to me again?! My parents work, DH works, my sister lives 3 hours away. Its a constant fear that runs through my mind.

At the end of of it all, I just try to keep a positive attitude and pray I won't go down that road again. That is my best advice to you.

I feel like a 1 in 1,000 chance and you've already experienced it means there's no way you'll have to go through anything like that again!!!

I'm not a doctor. This is totally my layman's interpretation of the odds.

Sending many positive vibes your way and prayers for a healthy pregnancy. If there's any way to cut the odds down even further, I'm certain your doctor will help you ever step of the way! Hang in there and stay positive!!!!

if it makes you feel any better, from everything that i can find, the risks of cardiomyopothy are 1/2500.

just like labor and delivery, do not stress it. there is nothing you can do. trust your instinct and your doctors - you will be ok!
