I quit a few years ago. I went cold-turkey and didn't use any patches or nicotine gum. I agree that you should try to avoid situations that would remind you of your smoking habit, bars, etc. What I found really helpful was popping hard candies in my mouth when I needed a smoke. I did that for a few weeks and didn't put on any weight.

I used Wellbutrin and it worked but then after like 9-10 weeks, I folded and went back to smoking. I got my BFP on July 16th and have not had a cigarette since then, it is much easoer when you do not have a choice, IMO

yay!!!- I quit also when I found out I was preggo almost 2 yrs ago. This past weekend we went to a concert and I got a little tipsy decided to try one again and it hurt my lungs so bad that I will NEVER go back.

Congrats Donna! It's hard, but you can do it - esp. when you know it's the best thing you can do for your body as you TTC.
My quit date was Aug. 1 - I've had one since then. MAJOR withdrawal symptoms the first week - and I have not been pleasant (just ask DH).
But, it's all for the best.
Hang in there!!

awesome and congrats. you can do it. I quit last year for about 9 months and went back to it like an idiot...stress got to me. I hope to try again soon. But if you really want it quit, you can do it.
