Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
I didn't when I was 35.
All of the markers were in the normal range so I didn't see the point. If they were not, then I would have.

Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
I am 35 and TTC #2 and I don't plan on getting ANY tests done other than what I had with my DD. (Ultrascreen, Level II, etc.) Unless there is some really significant reason for me to have an amnio or anything else I don't plan on having them done.

Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
Neither, I did other less invasive tests and figured if the anatomy scan showed something concerning, I would go for the amnio. But we decided we wanted to have our baby even if something was wrong, I think this is one consideration. Another reason for doing the tests is that you can prepare in advance if something is wrong. The risk of losing your child with either test is slight (thought higher with the CVS), and though slim, we didn't want to risk it.
I don't know if anything has changed, but I seem to recall the CVS test did not pick up everything, maybe Downs is missed with it? I can't remember, but the amnio did seem to indicate more.

Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
All my regular tests were within normal range so I opted not to have an amnio or CVS although they were offered to me since I was over 35. My OB told me there was always a risk with either of those, and since I was planning on having my DS no matter what the results, it was safer not to have them.

Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
I completely forgot about the NT scan...
Thank you so much everyone for sharing. I'm becoming obsessed with this age thing (i'm sure you're starting to notice since this is my second 35+ post). I'm just so nervous and want to be as prepared as I can. Thanks again!

Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
I'm 34 weeks pregnant and will be 36 on Sunday, but I declined all testing just like I did with my other two pregnancys. I didn't even do the triple screen or anything. My doc had no issues with this at my age.

Re: If you were 35 and older when pg- did you have an amnio or cvs?
I was 35 with my second child, but I was 34 when I had my first child and all was fine. I told the doctor it would all depend on the results of the ultrascreen, if anything came back questionable I'd do an amnio. It came back as good as the first time so I didn't do anything further than what was necessary. If I go for a third I'll be 38 or 39 so yes, I'll do an amnio.
