If your parents offered to pay for a private room...

would you take them up on it?

We can't afford the extra expense and I had an awful experience with Andrew in the hospital. My roommate was very scary and I had soo many problems with them.

My parents said they want me to be comfortable and if Andrew comes up to be able to run around and not bother anyone. They offered to pay the extra for it.

I really want the private room!! Would you let them pay for it?

Definitely! I would do anything for a private room, but my hospital doesn't offer it. Chat Icon

Yes, I would gratefully accept as long as it didn't place a financial hardship on them. Enjoy!

honestly honey... the hospital where I delivered was 100% all private rooms. it was the most BEAUTIFUL thing in the world. Slept w/o disturbance, could have visitors w/o worrying about bothering anyone else... no other baby's in the room to disturb DD...

it was great! I would DEF take them up on it!

Re: If your parents offered to pay for a private room...

I had a great experience my first time around, so for the second, I would probably encourage them to keep the $700.00 a night for the private room and put it towards DC's college fund or something else they would need.

They do that alreadyChat Icon Chat Icon It is $260 a night extra.

I am going to take them up on their offer.

The problem is, and I am sorry if this comes out the wrong way but sometimes the class of people that come to this hospital aren't the greatest. My roommate with Andrew was into gangs and her BF would come in and they would talk about rival gangs, etc. I was soo scared. Every time I would tell the nurse I was scared and to leave the door open, the BF would come right back over and close it.

I don't want to take a chance. Thanks everyoneChat Icon

I have been thinking about asking my parents to pay for this or coming up with the money on my own, especially if I have a C-section. I say take them up on it for sure!!!!

DH keeps making me feel guilty and keeps telling me it's not worth the money. It makes me so mad that he is making me feel guilty. He isn't the one that has to be there all day and night for 4 daysChat Icon

Re: If your parents offered to pay for a private room...

Oh wow, I can see why you feel that way.

I remember a day or two before I gave birth starting a thread about what people's experiences were like where I gave birth and a few people posted similar things.

I was kinda freaked out.

I was fortunate though and lucked out.

People from all backgrounds though are going to be giving birth so I think unfortunately, this is something some of us may run into. Hopefully not that often though.

EXACTLY!!! If they're offering, take it. I think you'll be so happy you did, and they'll be happy that you're comfortable.

Oh my God! I'm supposed to give birth at the same hospital too, you are scaring me, I do not know much about the hospital yet...did you have any other problems? I guess the rest of your experience was not bad since you are giving birth to your second baby there again. I should then find out about private rooms when my time comes.

I'd say that if you had that experience and it will make you anxious, your parents just want you to feel comfortable and if its not a big deal for them then go for it. As you said DH won't be the one sleeping there Chat Icon
