I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
And, last night was really the first time I realized it.
My tenant (Megsm3) had a beautiful baby girl vaginally. She looked great after the birth. I feel like I was a mess and in such pain for so long after.
It never really bothered me that I had a c section bc to be honest - I was/still am deathly afraid of pushing something so big out of there - but it kind of hit me last night that I'll never ever get to experience that rush of dialating, water breaking, pushing, etc.
And, the freaking pain of a section sux! I'm scared of having more then two sections too! UGH!
Does anyone else feel like this?

Ive had both and to be honest the labor part isnt all its cracked up to be. I know you feel like you missed something but you can always try a VBAC right?? BTW C/S #2 & #3 were much better recovery wise than #1

I feel the same way, I will never be able to experience it, I will be having a c-section with this baby too, and I hope I won't be in to much pain this time, I was up walking around the day after I had Julia and the pain wasn't to bad.

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
I personally do not feel that way at all. I had a c/s and I'm fine with it. There are positives and negatives to both types of births and every individual's experience is different - even from birth to birth.
You are not alone in feel that way though. I know alot of women feel like they missed out on something by not giving birth vaginally.
But for me personally - I'm fine with it.

I'm too much of a wimp to attempt a VBAC. I've heard that the c sections after the first aren's as bad. I hope so. Were you scared about having three sections?

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
Sometimes But I'm not really bothered by my c-section. I KNOW it was out of my control and even though I went naturally for 16+ hours... I still wish I had that "pushing" experience.
I will be trying for a VBAC for #2, so hopefully I will get my experience!

I sometimes feel that way. The recovery from the c-section was so painful that I had to stop breastfeeding b/c the meds were making me so sleepy.

I was jealous- until I read the statistics about the percentage of women with incontinance after a vaginal birth- now I'm happy.....

I always was too - even happy about it - until last night. It was just a strange feeling.
The pain with the section is just an annoying pain too. The first couple of days were rough but the drugs helped of course. But, even to this day - 5 months later - there are days that my incision still is irritating.
I just feel like you hear these vaginal stories - and they are like up and moving around 10 minutes after the baby is born.

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
I had a vaginal birth and honestly - the healing from my episiotomy was pretty painful too. Be thankful you never had that to deal with!
I understand what you're saying though...I never had my own contractions...and as painful as I'm sure they are...I feel sad sometimes that I never got to experience them.

Yes perhaps, but the wonderful thing about incontinance is that you can do exercises and it goes away!!! Hooray for Klegals!!!

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
I say that as long as you have a healthy baby after it is all over, does it really matter how the baby came out? You had the challenge of carrying the baby inside you for 9 months, making sure you did everything in your power to keep him/her healthy and safe! The delivery (however it happens) is just a means to an end!
I delivered vaginally and to be honest with you, I had the epidural and only felt contractions for about an hour and a half. The rest of the time I felt nothing. Then when it came time to push, I just pushed... really couldn't feel any pain and had no idea if I was even doing it right!
In the end, we all have beautiful babies... c-section or vaginal!

HA - see, it's people like you that make me hate c-sections!
Believe me, I totally understand what you are saying - and honestly - the whole vaginal birth thing REALLY had me freaked out before - so now it's kind of a relief that I know what I'm in for next time around. It just seems that the vaginal birth is a much more pleasant one then the csection. But, I know also - that there are things that come along with vaginals also that I didn't have to deal with!

100%. I can no longer watch a baby story b/c I sob watching v births. It was what I always wanted and I feel a piece of me was taken and I had no say in it.
I am trying to deal with it.

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
I struggle with it. I wanted nothing more than to experience labor. Unfortunately I never even had one contraction. It was not the experience I would have liked. I have to remind myself that it what was best for me and the baby, but I cannot help but feel like I missed out on one of the most important moments of my life...

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
I had a vaginal birth so I really don't have any idea what it is like to have a c-section, but my friend had both and she said they each had their good points & bad points.
She had a c-section with her first child and then had a vaginal brith with her second child. So I think if you want to expereince a vaginal birth you can.

I wasnt really scared about the surgeries. Well, thats not totally true, any surgery is scary. I was ok with Jeremys C. I was more scared with Lukies because of the frontal location of the placenta and reading about the placenta growing into my uterus (which didnt happen, thank god). Each recovery was 100000% better than the previous one.

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
I have felt this way too. I feel like I missed out on the entire birth experience. Some days it makes feel like I'm less of a mom because of it. But then I think about those that have adopted and realize that we all become moms in our own special way. It doesn't mean that motherhood is based on birthing the baby through a small hole. I nearly died from my birth experience, so nobody can tell me that anything is 'easier'.

Re: I'm jealous of moms who had a vaginal birth
im sure we can be all over with this one....i had my DD 100% natural, and loved every minute of the 7/8 hours it was, and will do it again with the next DD. i am glad i got to feel every labor pain, every push, feeling the head, the burning of it when she crowned, the total rush i felt after her shoulders were out (like she just slid right out of me, still attached).....i couldnt imagine a c section (them pulling the baby out while your head is behind that curtain and stuff like on a baby story, being all drugged up)... it makes me sad that c sections even happen, to be honest...i know in some cases, they are absolutely medically necessary, but i also know in a lot of cases the DR just jumps to it- thats just the kind of society we live in i guess...
im telling u, u can TOTALLY VBAC!!! and dont let anyone tell u different. many women have done it, and u can too. if having a vaginal delivery is something u really want, then your dr will allow u to have one (i think u have to wait a while longer before getting pregnant and stuff, just so that the uterus is fully healed or something)....but u CAN do it. so do it!
on the flip side, i know it was probly easier for u to clean your incision than it was for us to squirt warm water down there, have it BURN LIKE HELL, and bleed down there for a couple weeks....yes, we can walk after giving birth, but it doesnt feel THAT great....ugh, the changing of the maxu pads, the cleaning of the stitches from tearing..... should i continue??

I actually bled for like 8 weeks or so. I didn't think that was supposed to happen with a section. So bad one day that I was almost admitted to the hospital.
Oh - the joys of having a baby!

That is so true...I couldn't make it t o the bathroom without wetting myself the first few days...by the time I realized I haven't peed in like forever, it was trickling down my legs. But now, thanks to Kegels all is MUCH better!
ETA: I believe that recovery after vaginal is much quicker...I was walking around going to the bathroom, feeding and changing my son a few hours after I gave birth...the girl across from me had a c-section and even though she was doing great, her recovery was a lot slower and she needed a lot more help than I did...and she was there a couple of days before me...but what can you do...I think if the circumstances called for a c-section then it had to be done...I think your health and the health of the baby is a lot more important.

I went through all of this with my c-section. I squirted, changed maxi pads, bled for weeks, etc. Recovery doesn't sound much different.
Mine was medically necessary. We both could've died.
