inspection went great BUT
we are so bummed and totally down  the inspection went great (minor issues) but we find out during the inspection that their agent has another offer to present - 5K over ours...
we are pissssed because we were told that after our offer was accepted, they would NOT show it again. apparently they did show it and another offer came in.
we were hoping that the owners would "do the right thing" and just go to contract with us because they already accpeted our offer - the engineer has been in but apparently the owner said "hey, its another 5K"  
she hasnt made a final decision yet and I know that the seller's agent has spoken with her about staying with us but ultimately, it is the seller's decision.
we could go up that 5K but we have already gone up. the house was listed for one price and then they increased the asking price when many offers came in. we met that second FULL asking price and now this
so, now we wait it out. we can always go up the 5k but we really dont want to.
i dont know, we are just bummed.

That sucks. But if its the house, and nothing major in the inspection i would offer the extra 5,000. Its not thst much more for monthly payments. And, reality is unless both sign the contract it can always be bought by someone else. good luck.

wait it out. ask the sellers agent to give you option to up your offer if the seller decides to go with other buyer.
i'm sure they can do that.

awwwww... i just fm'd you before i saw this. I'm sorry.
this is exactly what happened to us on the house close by I was telling you about. Eventually they asked us to meet them half way and slit the difference of the offer... maybe you can try that? we didn't got for it then cause splitting the diff was still another $7K. But maybe it could work in your case?
what kind of minor things did they find in the inspection?

Wow what town is this? They should offer you the opportunity to match the higher offer. In our office once an offer is accepted other offers are only kept as back ups.

This happened to us almost 6 years ago on the house we now own. We had to go up 10,000 and I was upset. Even to this day I feel like I overpaid for my house by 10,000 and of course it has gone down in value so it bothers me. I am so sorry that you are in the position we were in.

This happen to us to, but for some reason i just didnt believe them lol i dont know just seemed weird but i guess its common seeing how many ppl it has happen to. Anyway we didnt change our offer we kept it and just hoped that the seller would do right by us. He was former military and dh is in the airforce so he said he felt that he "had" to keep his word with us and everything went threw.
Im sorry this happen i hope it all works out for you.

Just keep your fingers crossed .. most people do the right thing (at least I like to think that ) . I know you dont want to hear this but if this is meant to be you will get it or you will get something better :) .. good luck

we met them in the middle - +2500 
the owner refuses to sign a binder so now we race to contract. ugh. i just hope no one else makes an offer before both parties sign!

sorry this happened to you , on principal I think you should stick to your price because it's not right if they do take the other offer. If so, do you get the $ back from inspection?

if they accept a higher offer, yes we will get it back. we really love the house and it is worth what we offered (even with the additional 2.5k)
that is what bothers me also, it was listed WAY low IMHO and really, that is what caused this mess.
they had 10 full price offers on day 1
 so they raised the price by 20k and we offered that in full immediately. now we have to offer another 2.5k after our offer was accepted and we were told no more shows? just aggrivating

we had a similar situation. our house went o the market for a way too high price a year before we bought it....was on the market for a year, changed agents and it went down a lot. we put in an offer very close to asking and after a lot of back and forths we ended up agreeing on 5,000 more than asking. the night before out inspection our agent said that the other agent called and had another offer. luckily the day of the inspection the owners were there and loved us and agreed to accept our offer.

that's a cr@p thing to do but it is all business, although it doesn't seem too ethical. if you love the house i'd go up 5k, or even 6k to beat it.
