Insurance coverage max
Currently my insurance covers $17,500 lifetime and $7000 meds for infertility. After speaking to my RE today we're going to IUI's and will likely skip over injectables and go right to IVF, in an effort to have more control over multiples and better success.
With open enrollment coming up I called my DHs insurance and it turns out he has $45k of coverage and (or including) 3 IVf's lifetime. Thinking way ahead here but if we do go IVF and say the first one doesn't work my insurance will likely be maxed. Does it make sense to spend the additional $2400 a year in higher premiums for his insurance to have almost triple the coverage?
Seems like a no brainer- I think

Re: Insurance coverage max
I know you didn't ask this, but I would not skip over injectables. I have no IF issues but have never been able to get pg on a natural or clomid cycle. Injectables with multiple follies is the only thing that's worked for us. So IMO, I'd try injectables before putting yourself and your body through IVF. Injectables can be more closely monitored than clomid, too.
As for your question, yes, it's definitely better to take insurance with a higher max for infertility if you need to go down that route. I don't know your history, but $2,400 is pennies compared to what you will pay for IF testing and treatment.

Re: Insurance coverage max
Thank you I appreciate that, I've been researching the injections and will talk to my RE about it. Hopefully we won't need it next month!!
Turns out the insurance company gave me the wrong amounts for DHs coverage it's actually 25k not $45. It would cost us $3k more a year in monthly contributions in addition to higher deductibles, copays, prescriptions, and out of pocket maximums so we're going to stick with my insurance for 2015.
