It's chelation and I have never read enough on it to see if it works to be honest. I have heard that children with Autism do have high levels of heavy metals in their blood though so it would make sense to try it I suppose.
The allergy testing, there are only so many things they can test for, so for them to be tested 25 times each month, yeah that seems a bit excessive and I'm surprised a doctor would even do that month after month!
You would actually be surprised at what doctors are willing to do for unfortunately. I have seen kids go through chelation. I'll never forget the 4 year old peeing bright pink in the toilet. That really was awful... And he had a weird smell when he was going thru chelation!!!

another friend in the longwood SD is fighting everyday for services for his child. NOBODY is helping him.
and i do feel that respite services SHOULD be included. ETA..i think it is MUCH more common than people think
I've heard nothing but GREAT things about Longwood SD special education! My co-worker has a child with special needs that was in Longwood and she had nothing but positives to say. We were actually just talking about this yesterday. They are supposed to be one of the best ones on LI. That's sad to hear that they are giving your friend a hard time. Maybe he should get an advocate that can help him get the services his child needs
maybe you are right and i will tell him. Just last week he went to several interviews just to get his child into some daycare so he can go to work. He is a single father with an autistic child and has spoken to several social workers and to no avail ...
Can't he get a SEIT to attend the daycare with him at least for several hours a week?

i don't think he even knows about it. If you have any info that i could pass along. Support groups or places where he can reach out please let me know. And i could pass along the info
ETA: i think that he needs an advocate or a GOOD social worker to help point him in the right direction. And at this point there has been NOBODY

TY. i couldn't have agreed more
and i am not sitting in "judgement" of any parent. IMO i feel for these parents and i often feel that these "alternative" doctors prey on the desperation of people. My friend who used this chelation therapy is a WONDERFUL parent and wanted to do anything she could to help her DS. I understand why she did it. I just do not agree with it. And i did see first hand and was told day after day about these treatments.
