Im scheduled for may 25th for my second csection and im terrifed. I cant stop thinking the worst and crying. Baby head already in place doc said is reachable and im fully thinned and soft cervix what does this mean. Im just concerned i guess something is gonna happen to me or i wont be able to tend to the needs of my 2 yr and new baby. or is this my depression setting in again.

Did you have a bad experience with your first c/s?
I had a 2nd one (this one was scheduled) but yeah, I dreaded it ... pretty much the entire pregnancy I agonized over it vs. a VBAC.
What part about it scares you the most? For me, I dreaded the actual procedure and the long recovery. It's not easy, as I am sure you know. Will you have help after baby is born? Help can really make things a lot easier.
just keep in mind that even though it sucks, you DO get a little reward at the end.......a cute little baby!

Re: Is it normal to be terrified of second c-section
I have anxeity over my scheduled c-section, im having my 2nd c-section in August, I swore after what happened in my first c-section, i would VBAC but placenta previa with this pregnancy fixed that. My doctor knows im scared. I had staph, blood infection, pneumonia and post partum congestive heart failure, i almost didn't come home and im scared to death that might happen again, i have my 28 weeks appointment on June 8th and that is when we will discuss my c-section and hopefully put my fears at bay, but im right there wiht you on the anxiety of the 2nd c-section.

Re: Is it normal to be terrified of second c-section
I really wasn't nervous about my second c-section... until I was in the OR. I could not stop crying and could not rally catch my breath. My doc and the NP/midwife assisting him were so supportive and I felt much better once my DH was in the room. The doc said I healed really well from my first c-section, so the whole process went very smoothly and quickly. Once my first twin was born and I knew he was okay, I could not stop giggling... the tears and fear were gone. A minute later, the giggling continued when my second twin was born.
I think it is normal to worry about surgery more once you are a mom. Hopefully, everything will go quickly and before you know it, you will be totally focused on the miracle of your new baby!
Hang in there!

Re: Is it normal to be terrified of second c-section
I was very worried for my second c/s. I think it was because I knew about it for so long I was able to think of all the what ifs...With the my first it was scheduled only 2 days prior to the actual surgery so I had no time to think about what was about to happen. Also for me there were so many different circumstances, different OB, having an epi vs a spinal with my first etc, that just added to my anxiety.
However I will tell you my 2nd c/s was just as good/easy and experience as my first. I really worried for no reason!
