Re: Is it rude? Honest opinions!

Our garbage guys don't fully turn the whole garbage can - so if something is in a smaller bag, it doesn't make it out. It would bug me if there was a collection of other peoples' poop bags. We're dog owners and take our dog out 2-3 times a day, and just carry the bag back home where we have a mini trash can for his poop bags outside and then dump it into a bigger one when it's trash days. If we see a public trash can, we'll throw it in there, but never into someone else's trash.

I'm sitting here in awe that things like this bother people. I mean- no one is smearing the lid with it.
I think it's more disgusting to walk around carrying dog shit.

That's the price of owning a dog. My PERSONAL property is not yours to utilize.

Exactly. Don't want to carry it? Let your dog crap in your own yard ;)

I agree with this. You know when you get a dog that you will be walking around with poop in a bag. And you walk your dog 80% of the time when its not garbage day and carry the poop all the way home so why get lazy the other 2 days????

The other option is if you don't like carrying poop is to just keep your dog in your own yard.

I have two dogs and I think it's rude and disgusting. I don't think another person should have to deal with my dogs poop in their garbage. It smells disgusting, attracts flies and could leak. In my opinion it's wrong.

Honestly... I'd be unhappy.

I don't want dog poop in my trash at all, for any amount of time. It stinks up, baggie or not. Yuck. Heat and poop and contained .. No thank you.

I am sorry but I find that very rude. If I wanted dog poop in my garbage, I'd get a dog.

If you walk up my driveway and put it in my garbage can, that's rude.

If my garbage can is at the curb & is being picked up in a couple hours, i dont care. It's GARBAGE in there. Throw a dirty diaper in there, your fast food leftovers, your dog poop..

Is it rude? Honest opinions!

This gets my DH so angry, he's actually stopped using our garbage cans and just puts the garbage bags out front because someone would put it in the can every garbage day. It's really annoying because it was always after the pick up, and would be at the bottom of the rest of the garbage and get smashed up. This is NOT cool, and I would never do it.

I'm a dog owner and I have to say I would never do this. And I would be pissed if someone else was walking their dog and dropped their poop bag into my garbage can.

But there is a good chance the person's garbage can that it got tossed in is not a dog owner.

Or the people that use liners and then the bag of other dog poop is outside the liner and ends up on the street or at the bottom of the pail.

I don't have a dog. But if I saw someone put their dog poop even in a bag tied up in my garbage can I wouldn't be pleased.

Same!

I used to do it all the time. Its wrapped up, its not like Im throwing unwrapped crap in their trash can. And I would only do it if the can is on the curb waiting to be dumped. I swear if anybody said anything to me I would definitely go off on them Chat Icon

Is it rude? Honest opinions!

I wouldn't give a shit.

I've got bigger fish to fry than to worry about someone throwing their dog's packaged excrement in my trash can. I'd rather they do that then let their dog go on my lawn and not pick it up. I've seen that plenty if times.

I can't believe this is even worthy of a five page thread.

Seriously folks, get over it. Your garbage is garbage and it already smells like shit. What's the big deal if there's a little more in it?

i dont get what the big deal is. it's garbage. it's getting thrown out anyway.

Agreed. If I saw someone do this and put it in my can I really wouldn't care. Maybe it's because I have a dog?

I don't know about any of you, but my garbage cans are just that - cans for GARBAGE. I don't have fancy designer garbage cans.

Garbage, by definition, is trash, refuse, waste. I'd much rather someone use my trash can to throw out the dog poop than leave it in the street, throw on someones yard, etc.

I just don't GET this being such an issue.

Why does everyone keep saying this? That you would rather them throw it in a neighbor's trash can than leave it there? That is not the alternative. The alternative is to take your crap home with you, or let your dog poop in your own yard.

Because there are plenty of dog owners that WOULD leave it - because they're lazy.

I don't begrudge the OP for wanting to throw out the poop rather than carry it with her. I don't think that makes her a ****** dog owner (no pun intended).

There are so many other things in life to get bent over.

Financial woes? Yes.

Marriage troubles? Yes

Throwing out dog poop in someones garbage? Nope.

It's about PERSPECTIVE. Is this really something to get angry over? Is it worth an internet argument?

Who is angry? I am pointing out that there is an alternative. Why does anyone post anything on the internet? To discuss it of course. I don't know why people are getting so heated that this practice annoys people Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is it rude? Honest opinions!

I don't get it. Are these garbage cans doing double duty as punch bowls or wading pools for kids? Chat Icon It's a garbage can, it smells regardless of what goes in there, doesn't it?

I am not a dog owner. I am not even a dog lover a lot of the time. I have 2x a week trash pickup. I have no problem at all with someone putting the dog poop in my can, as long as it's in a bag. Maybe the odor would keep the racoons from tipping that can over. Even if the racoons tip the can, they aren't opening up the bag of poop, they're smart enough to just go after the bag with food.

I keep my cans outside, though....is that the issue? For the people who bring them into their garage, maybe? I really don't get all the outrage here.

Why should someone "get over it?". The OP asked for opinions. Why are the people giving the opinions being attacked?
