Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
My DD is 3 weeks and we were thinking of buying a Glider.
Just wanted to see if you ladies thought they were worth it or a waste of money??? Did you use it all the time?

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
I will admit, I used it for the first 2 months or so when DS would get up every 3 hours for a feeding, but since then I have yet to sit in it.
It looks nice in the room though & it's super comfy

We don't have one & never missed it but DS room is also close to the LR so I was able to night feed on the couch.

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
I love having it! It is really nice to have a place in DS's room to retreat to, read a book, and feed, whatever it may be...rather than another room in the house. I find when people are over, or DH is watching TV, it is nice to go in there, and "get away".
I also sit with him every night before bed, so I defintely use mine.

That's a good point. We are moving to a 2 bedroom apartment. It would be nice to have the nursery as a getaway from visitors or even DH. Especially in apartment living where you feel like everything /everyone is right on top of each other.

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
I used it religiously the first 8 months of DS's life! Granted, I haven't used it since, but I felt like I needed it during those first months.

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
I really like having ours. I BF Chloe for al little over a year, so it was nice to have the getaway upstairs. the bedrooms are all upstairs too, and I didn't want to bring her back into our room to feed her when she was very young. But... if room is an issue or your living room is right there - you could definitely do without it. we got an upholstered glider at BRU, she still loves it at 2 years old, so for baby #2 im thinking of getting an inexpensive one at walmart

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
We didn't get it for our shower, so we ended up buying a very reasonably priced one from Target instead.
I couldn't use it because of my c-section (too painful to sit/stand). I ended up not using it much after that either.... but my husband used it with the baby all of the time.
So I mean, I would get one, but not a super expensive one. Ours ended up breaking (well my nephew broke it) and we never replaced it.

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
I purchased one in my 9th month of preganacy from walmart for about $120 and it was very easy to put together and very comfortable. I had it in my room and ended up using my bed to BF instead so the chair was just sitting there collecting dust. Then when DD was about a month old i put it in her room in front of the window. I now use it every day with her. To feed her, to rock her, to read to her. i have a feeling i will use it even more as she grows. I do love it and i love that it was reasonably priced and comfortable.

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
We have one and getting one was by far the best baby purchase. I have been using it since he was born. I do all of his feedings in the glider and we read in the glider. He is still in his bassinet in our room so the glider is there for now. It is so nice to be able to go into our bedroom and be comfortable when we have company over.

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
I didn't have one with my DD, then when I got pregnant with my son, I decided to get one. BEST decision! I cannot even tell you how many times I've used it to calm him down. I wish I had one with my DD!

Re: Is it worth it to buy a glider/rocker?
My DS is 2 and we sit in it each night to read. i think if you have room and can afford it, it's nice to have, but definitely not a necessity.

This is us too. I do love it but we rarely use it now. It's in our room but we spend most of our time in the LR (that's where I read to her, give her her milk, etc) so it's not used that much. I hope to start using it again though...maybe when DD has a bigger room and we could put it in there.
