Birth control doesn't always work. It's not 100% effective. The only thing that is 100% effective is abstaining. There are plenty of 16 year old girls out there that get pregnant and go on to live happy lives. But of course because she's related to Britney everyone has to judge her even more. It's shocking to hear but let's not judge her so quickly. I was having sex when I was 16. It's not uncommon, do we have to say can't anyone keep their legs closed in that family? Or did she ever hear of BC? Accidents happen. Give her a break.

You are right when you say accidents happen...
BUT.....you have to admit..it seems, that lately in Hollywood especially that babies seem to be the latest accessory and trend. Nicole Richie...Jessica Alba...Britney etc...
There are more and more unmarried, young women having babies it seems and what is sad to me is that all the focus is on the positive amazing parts of being a parent. The huge baby showers, the cute outfits, the maternity clothes etc...
I am happy she is keeping her baby...but she has no clue what she is in for and I think a lot of these women don't. And I think the fact that her older sister had two babies that she coudln't handle...then she gets pregnant...well it just all seems so weird to me.
I have a hard time believing she was on birth control. Maybe she was, but for some reason i doubt it.

I'm definitely shocked!
I know everyone is  because of who she is, but speaking as someone who was pregnant at 15, lets not forget about the boyfriend. It's funny that nobody mentioned him. He is just as much at fault, she didn't do this on her own.

speechless, I am absolutely speechless!! It's sad really, she seems so young and still trying to find her own way....
Given what this girl has seen her sister go trough and the challenges of raising kids as young as Britney is/ was when she had kids...factor that in with being in the public spotlight and you would think she would have really thoguht about what her actions might mean, as it doesn't sound like this was planned. Wil lbe interesting to see how Nickelodeon handles...

I got pregnant while on birth control.
Granted, I was 28 and had been on it for 8 years by then.
I am soo shocked by this though - I thought she was "the good one"

Give her a break??? She's a 16 year old celebrity with a major fan base of YOUNG girls - She has a TV show on Nickelodeon !! -
Ok, let's all congratulate her on her teen pregnancy ........Yes, 16 year olds have sex, yes, you can get pregnant while on BC, but do you have to make a HUGE public announcement about it in a 6 page magazine spread ?? I'm not saying she should hide from the world....but really, let's have a TEENY bit of social responsibility here and act with a some discretion -

I'm not saying we should congratulate her, I'm saying we don't have to throw her under the bus for it. I understand she has a big young fan base but would you rather her have a 6 page article about how this is the worst thing that ever happened to her? And how she doesn't want the baby? That may not be the best message to send to young children either.
Pregnancy can be the best thing that happens to people even at a young age. As I said I know plenty of women who got pregnant at very young ages, 15 and 16 and they all say that they would not have changed it if they could. Yes they had a hard life and they did not have a "normal life". But as one young mother pointed out to me, now that he daughter is 20, she's only 35 and she still feels like she has her whole life ahead of her and she's got to share most of her life with her daughter. She admits that she's made a lot of sacrifices that she never thought she would have to make but she also loves her life and her daughter is an amazing person. Not every 16 year old mother is a bad person or a bad mother for becoming pregnant. My mother was married and pregnant when she was 18. It was very common 40 years ago. And again, mistakes happen.

I agree. That's my take.
don't buy it was an accident. She has always made statements about wanting to top her sister, beat her out...compete.
In addition, I agree. Jessica Alba, Nicole Ritchie, Britney, etc...I do sadly think this is becoming a trend. First it was doggies, now babies...
Sure accidents happen but I just don't buy it here. One woudl think after seeing her sister make that mistake twice she would be paranoid for herself...if she truly didn't want to become pregnant.

First of all it is bad enough she is having sex at such young age but I am not going to pass judgement on her because maybe it was an accident. Accident does happen.
I applaud her for bringing the baby into the world. At least she is not tyring to abort the baby like a alot of young girls at that age.
It would have been nice if she would have waited but at the same time I will not judge her or even speak badly of her. I only hope she will be a very good mother.

Unfortunatelly, this young "woman" is ONLY 16. She is a child herself. How old is the father?
