I havent read this entire thing yet but...
I understand she is a rold model but honestly this would be an easy way to bring up the Sex talk.
And let them know if this is something they do and even if they use protection it is still posible to get pregnant.

I applaud her for bringing the baby into the world. At least she is not tyring to abort the baby like a alot of young girls at that age.
It would have been nice if she would have waited but at the same time I will not judge her or even speak badly of her. I only hope she will be a very good mother.
I was with my DH for 2 year at 16. That is when I lost my virginity.

Well for those of us who don't agree with abortion (I can't speak for anyone else, only myself here!) it is nice to hear that in a situation such as this, she will keep her baby. And i don't by any means think abortion is the easy way out...I don't think any choice is easy, but nonetheless it's not the most awful thing to happen to a person (baby at 16). I do wish her luck! It's a tough road no matter what the age but hopefully she will find being a mother to be awesome.

The part that REALLY bothers me is that she was LIVING WITH HER BOYFRIEND. Where are her parents?! I understand 16 yr olds have sex, and even if she lived with one of her parents she may have still became pregnant, but if her parents were actually guiding her and she was living with them like a 16 year should be then she may have used BC or had a curfew or been talking to someone about her choices before she made them. Lynn Spears and her ex-husband have done a ROTTEN job of parenting (or lack of), i.e. the minute they let Jamie Lynn live on her own as a 16 year old (or younger possibly.) This potentially could have been prevented had someone actually guided this teen instead of 'trusting' her to be mature enough to care of herself, which you are not at 16 unless in a dire case of abuse where you need to move out of the home.
I hope for the best for her. I imagine it's tough to be a young mom, let alone in the spotlight.
I have not heard she lived with him...
Who said she didn't use birth control?
Just cause you live with mommy and daddy means you use or don't use birth control

Pregnancy can be the best thing that happens to people even at a young age. As I said I know plenty of women who got pregnant at very young ages, 15 and 16 and they all say that they would not have changed it if they could. Yes they had a hard life and they did not have a "normal life". But as one young mother pointed out to me, now that he daughter is 20, she's only 35 and she still feels like she has her whole life ahead of her and she's got to share most of her life with her daughter. She admits that she's made a lot of sacrifices that she never thought she would have to make but she also loves her life and her daughter is an amazing person. Not every 16 year old mother is a bad person or a bad mother for becoming pregnant. My mother was married and pregnant when she was 18. It was very common 40 years ago. And again, mistakes happen.
No one said she was a bad person...
Stupid and irresponsible, yes, but not bad.
So basically, it's OK for her to be a horrible role model for young women and not learn a damn thing from her sister's mistakes, but because she'll be 36 when her child is 20....and she'll have a whole life ahead of her to probably party with this child.....that makes it all better?
OK, I get it now.......
Ok so all of those comments about can't anyone in that family keep her legs closed and that family is such white trash does not reflect thoughts of a bad person? People here really think that she's a good person. Come on. I never said it was ok for her to be pregnant at 16. I'm saying do we have to kill this girl for it? Mistakes happen.
And nice job twisting my words about being a young mother. I never said anything about her partying with her child. I said those people that I know who have had children at a young age don't always regret it because they have their whole life ahead of them by the time their child is 20.

I think that is a huge mistake when another life is created, who will pay the price for the mistake.
Not picking on you, just commenting on the word mistake re human lives.
I truly feel she should have known better after seeing her sister's horrible situation TIMES TWO. Two poor innocent babies who look so heartbroken every time I see a pic of them. Their own mother doesn't even want them or she would have shaped up her act to keep them. She foolishly had children and now her sister has put herself in the SAME predicament but even worse, much younger. I would bet that this is NO coincidence or no flukey one in 99% freak accident.
I am very convinced (based on things JL said over the years) that she simply wants to top her sister,e sp with the comment of they will have a "normal" life. Young and very idealistic apparently.
I know for me, seeing other's personal experiences led me to be triple cautious when it came to DTD as a young unmarried person. There is no room for error with condoms and birth control pills. Or condoms and contraceptive barriers. I just don't buy the "accident" phrase one bit coming from her in this senario.

When I say accidents happen what I mean is this is what can happen when 16 year olds have sex. They think they are being careful but they might not be as careful as they think. Maybe she was on the pill and missed a day and thought no big deal. There are women on this board that have done that and gotten pregnant. Do we call them stupid? No we congratulate them. Now I understand the difference there is that people are on her are older and mostly married. But they still made a mistake and had sex when they knew that there was a risk of pregnancy. That does not make somebody stupid. 16 year olds think that bad things won't happen to them. That's the life of a teenager. You always think that you won't get pregnant and you won't get killed in a car crash and that's why teenagers live risky lives.
For all we know she was on the pill and she didn't understand how to take it properly. She's not the first and won't be the last 16 year old to do that. Or maybe they used condoms and it broke. I have an older friend who's second child was conceived by a broken condom. These things happen. The only way to prevent pregnancy for sure is by abstaining. I don't blame a 16 year old girl for having sex. I also don't blame her for getting pregnant. It's a risk that you take anytime you have sex.

It's up to the parent to instill values in their children and let them know it's NOT ok to have sex at such a young age.

i can't believe people care so much about this trailer trash
the NY Post has a 2-page spread on JLS today..ridiculous. All she is, is just another statistic
who's raising our children? is it the parents? or is it Lindsay, Paris, and Jamie Lynn? if we allow our children to idolize these cartoon characters, then only we are to blame for their screw-ups.
I googled the town where the Spears girls grew up, Kentwood, LA...um yeah, that is a trailer town...the median income for a family was less than what I was making at my part-time job while I was in college! And 1/3 of the town lives below the poverty line.
Now, I'm not saying that just cuz someone is poor, it makes them trash. By no means. One can be poor and not ACT poor. But I think the evidence is pretty clear about this whole Spears family. The schit they do goes down in every city in America, but Britney and her family have some $$$, so all of a sudden it's "shocking" news.

BUT who says it's not ok. I had sex at 16. WITH the Man I AM MARRIED TO NOW... AND We were together for 2 years. It's up to parents to tell their children if you have sex use protection and ALSO understand that it's not 100%!

On marriage and the living situation:
Jamie Lynn wants to make clear that they do not live together — she lives with Lynne, while he lives with his parents.
How do we know this is going to be horrible. Maybe she will look at Britney and think I DON'T WANT to be like her and lose my child like she did.
I have a friend I have no idea where she is. She is 27 was married and has two beautiful children a boy and a girl. She is addicted to heroin. She ran off and honestly could be dead somewhere. I am so MAD AT HER. I have trouble getting pregnant and here she is just giving them away. I ask how can you do that to your kids and people here tell me the drugs take over your life blah blah blah and because she isn't in the lime light no one calls her trash or anything just someone with a serious drug problem.

Honestly I can't believe some of the posts that I am reading here. There are only 2 people in this world that know what kind of BC if any was used. And even if they did use BC it is not 100% effective. So let's all stop jumping to conclusions and stop criticizing people who have accidental pregnancies. It happens. We can debate till we're blue in the face whether or not a 16 year old should be having sex. We can all go on for days about whether or not they used BC. But the fact is 16 year olds do have sex and they are not always careful. Who are we to judge them? And the next time someone on this board gets pregnant accidentally I want to see how many people flame them for being too stupid for not knowing how to use BC. I guarantee you it will not be a 6 page thread. And personally I would expect a married 20-30 year old woman to understand more about BC than I expect a 16 and an 18 year old to understand.
