Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
Calm me down - bris is tomorrow and I'm starting to bug out -I'm so so upset for my little monkey. I know he won't remember, and I know I don't have to be in the room - but the thought of it, my heart is aching right now and I'm hysterical I can't imagine him having to go through that Besides, his wee looks so cute right now, like a little torpedo - lol.

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
Hey sweetie-first of all, you can hold my hand during it!
Second-my nephew barely cried. The mohel said that the babies don't have the nerves fully developed down there (?) and they cry because they are cold. Plus the wine on the gauze will act as anesthesia. He will do great and so will you!

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
I PROMISE it's not awful! DS and I both made it through without crying!!! (which I thought would be impossible on both accounts).
First of all - it's a VERY special ceremony. Try to enjoy it, and remember it. You created a gorgeous little jewish life - and now it's time to celebrate!!
Second - my Sons bris was on a sunday. When we went to the dr on tuesday he was pretty much all healed up already. He NEVER complained of pain before, during, or after the bris.
I really believe that being born is much more of a life scary experience for babies than a bris. Think about what he went through a week ago - compared to that the bris will be nothing!
Mazel Tov - and don't be afraid to cry, but try to make sure they are tears of joy - and enjoy your new little bundle.

Mazel Tov!
I was front and center for my son's bris and I compare it to a card trick. It was like the mohel just moved his hand and the next thing I knew it was done.

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
He will be fine. I am going to be honest - I was a complete wreck. My BFF from high school stayed with me in another room holding my hands. I have never prayed to g-d so hard in my life. I was crying. Once it was done he did not utter a peep. He was loving the wine soaked gauze and nursed like a champ. He napped for a good nap. You will be fine. Mazal Tov.

You will be fine. It goes by so fast. DS enjoyed the sugar soaked gauze and really only cried for a half a second. His winkie will look great afterwards, not as much like a torpedo LOL but great nonetheless. It's a joyous occasion. Mazel Tov

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
All will be well!!! It is a such a joyous occasion! You will see how proud and happy you will feel once it is all over!
It will pass by very quickly. I was a complete wreck during the process and the night before, of course. Luckily, we were sitting upstairs so I couldn't see every little detail. I was kind of upset about that at first and then realized that the whole women upstairs thing is really a very smart idea -- some things I am glad I didn't see. My sister was holding me and I was squeezing her hand for the few most important seconds and then it was all over and everyone was congratulation me. Benji was a little upset for a few seconds after, but the mohel held him in a very special way, with his tummy toward the mohel's palm and he immediately looked content an stopped crying. Hey, the man have been doing it for 26 years, I guess he knew a few tricks
Benjamin nursed afterwards and passed out from the food and the sugar! His little wee wee looks perfect. In fact, I am pretty sure he is damn pleased with it himself
MAZAL TOV and have a wonderful day tomorrow!!

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
He is going to be fine. This is such a blessing as you welcome him into the Jewish community and give him his name. Granted, I have a girl, but giving Abby her name and knowing the legacy she carried was one of the single most beautiful moments we shared as a family.
If you focus on the sacred event and not the circumcision, it may help you. It is literally over in minutes.

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
We met with the mohel tonight (he likes to meet family before bris if he can - and check out the goods - ok - my words, not his) I do feel better and I know it will be over quick. I am going to concentrate, as you all reminded me, on what a wonderful special day it is for my son, as he is introduced into the Jewish community.

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
Mazel Tov!!!
I know exactly what you're going through. I was a wreck! In the pics at the Bris my eyes are puffy from crying. So bad! LOL! It's worse for you then them. The Mohel said some nice prayers and spoke a bit I then left the room during it. DH, my FIL and father watched carefully. I just couldn't. I almost passed out at my nephew's Bris years ago so I knew my own son's I wouldn't be good. BTW... I knew the Mohel would do a good job b/c he did my husband I came back in the room and everything was fine. He heeled a day or so later. It's nothing... Now, if I have a boy again... I know I'll be the same way. It is a nice thing though and your family and friends are all there to celebrate

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
the baby doesnt care...just the moms do! i started crying when everyone walked down the aisle. i stayed in the back and when it was time for the circ i walked out and my best friend followed. once that part was over we came back in. the mohel actually called me up to the alter to be a part of the ceremony. of course i cried the whole time but DS was drunk within 2 seconds. LOL just watch out for explosive poop after. wine and milk dont mix too well.

Re: Jewish Ladies who had Bris'
I was sooo emotional too. I actually watched the mohel do it. I had to see what he was doing to my baby. You will be fine. When I spoke about who he is named after I cried my eyes out. I think that is part of it. I said to the mohel beforehand that I didn't think I was going to be able to stand up there and not cry. He reassured me that people would understand why I was crying. It is joyous occasion. Mazel Tov!
