Re: Just curious..
We were married the day after you and got pg this past July So we waited almost 2 years before we started The house was the first thing on my agenda after the wedding - after that I just wanted to enjoy being married and alone with DH

Re: Just curious..
We've been married 2 years as well (as you know Kristin :)
I'm actually happy that we don't own a house right now. In this unstable economy and market, we are not tied down to a huge mortgage.
Because of that, I am able to be a SAHM with my first child, and that is worth it's weight in gold to me.
Buying a house is a personal decision, and as you stated, all a child needs to be happy is love and stability. We were in a 1 bedroom apt before we found out we were pregnant, we just moved into a very nice 2 bedroom condo that we are renting, complete with a beautiful nursery for LO. He won't know the difference between a mortgage and a rent check and we will buy a house when the time is right.

Don't ever feel guilty about not owning a house. Owning in this market is almost stupid! I'm losing money. We took a huge hit and wish we can sell. Now I'm stuck!

On the flip side, I don't think its stupid at all, I commend you for being able to buy right away, it's just not the right time for us.

Re: Just curious..
At first, we only waited about 8 months after getting married, but that pregnancy ended in a m/c With this one, it was a year & a half after our wedding date.
Honestly, I don't think there's such a thing as too early or too late. It REALLY depends on the situation. Some people want to buy the house first or get their careers going and that's fine. Others are ready on the honeymoon. I think as long as you're in a stable relationship and ready to give the baby as good of a life as you can - THEN you're ready. At least that's MY opinion on it. For us, we just wanted to make sure that we had Health Insurance first (way too expensive without it!! Eek). And since we didn't live together before getting married, we also wanted to make sure that we had enough 'alone' time before the children came. So I feel like for us, the timing can't be more perfect.

Re: Just curious..
With DS we were married just under 3 years when I got my BFP.
We just never wanted kids earlier than that. We were married when I was 25. And had so much going on in our lives...In the few weeks before our wedding, we bought a house and I changed jobs then we got married. A weeek after coming back from our HM my mom was diagnosed with cancer and died 4 months later. It was hectic and crazy firs tyear, and we were young and wanted to just have a few years to relax and enjoy your newly married lives and travel a little and spend time with friends etc.
I am shocked that you got comments on why you waited so long...That amazes me!

I was just curious because I had people ask me "what took you so long". It kind of upset me.
UGH! I hated this comment when people would say that to me. I would get that all the time from people who had no idea what we were going through with infertility. When are the babies coming, what are you waiting for? It's just so rude....People have no idea what your situation is and what you are going through.

I agree. I had a couple comments from friends for DH's family asking what we were waiting for. They had no idea that we were dealing with miscarriages at the time so their comments hurt. People are stupid. Simple as that.

Re: Just curious..
We knew that we didn't want to wait. We also knew there was no perfect time to get pregnant and we knew we would, in the words of Tim Gunn, "Make it work."
We live in an apartment in Queens, the same place I've lived for 18 years . I took over after my mother passed away. It's a decent apartment and the rent is cheap. It's a 3 bedroom and one of those rooms is occupied by my husband's office. He works mainly from home and I do not work. I consult for him once in a while but get paid in hugs and high fives .
With all this being said, I got pregnant a little over 2 months after getting married. I'm not getting any younger and know I want another baby quite soon after my .
At this point, we'll have our DS a week before our first anniversary.

Re: Just curious..
Got the BFP a month after our 4 year wedding anniversary. We heard plenty of "what are you waiting for?" in that time. After we announced that we were expecting we started hearing "it's about time, I was wondering what was taking so long". You can't please everyone, so just focus on pleasing yourselves!

Re: Just curious..
3 years and a few months. It was the right time for us. i am only 10 weeks, so not that many people know yet and people are constantly asking us wehn we are going to get pregnant. It drives me insane as it is clearly none of their business (especially after trying for nearly 10 months before getting a BFP)

I should get rid of them now then
I guess we'll join you in idiotland
Well sign us up as well. We rent and plan on keeping renting our one br. DH is still in school and working three jobs. LO was very much planned!!!
