Keyspan billing question...
Hi all! DH and I live in an expanded cape that has a full basement. When we first moved in, we didn't do the balanced billing to see what it would cost us. The first bill for the two of us was over $300! We then did the balanced billing which put us at $209 a month. That was November, so ok, it was chilly and the heat was on. Well, since the summer, obviously, no heat on and we've been using the stove less due to frequent bbq-ing! I got our bill last week, and they raised it again!!! We now pay $229! Does that seem like a lot to everyone?? TIA!

Re: Keyspan billing question...
do you have a gas dryer and use it alot?
my washer broke the other month - so i was doing all my laundry at my mom's (so no dryer and no heat) my bill was $21. I don't think I have ever paid more than $300 for one winter month - but I am pretty stingy with the heat (I set it low on a timer and if we need to raise it fine, but I would rather it default to a lower temp)
We don't do balanced billing, but from what I understand is that you won't pay more than you would without it - and if you do, they send you a check?

Re: Keyspan billing question...
we're on balanced billing too with National Grid (no longer Keyspan) and our last bill was higher than it's been the rest of the year - only by $8 though. it has nothing to do with your usage. they raised their rates.

Thanks for your responses girls, its so annoying, I try to be careful and use it sparingly, but I guess there's nothing I can do about them raising their rates! Thanks again for your responses!

Re: Keyspan billing question...
We don't use balanced billing. Our bill in the winter months was around $200. In the summer it has been around $30. I'm not sure what this would equal to in balanced billing - however, you shouldn't do balanced billing until you have been in the house a year and they have records of your usage, not the previous owners.
