I too have found this very difficult. I finally have one or two mommy friends, but i'd love some more. I too can be shy, and it makes it even harder. Plus, you have to find other moms that you actually cllick with. So funny about the match.com for moms! Not a bad idea!

I just joined the facebook link.. Also, I am planning on being at the Friday GTG...I went to the last one and had alot of fun. I just hope it's nice out and that there are more babies that are my DS age...he's 2 months LOL

I just joined the FB group too! Wish I could make the GTG on Friday but I have a pre OP appt. I love meeting other mommies. I've met some really great people at the GTG's from this site

Met some really great mommies on here and also go to a bfing group. I went to one GTG on here and was nervous myself but it ended up being great. I would like to go to another one now!

how do you make mommy friends? DD goes to a class but most of the moms are working moms....weve been doing playdates with one mom thats a sahm.
i know there are gtg on here but im to shy to go i feel like everyone knows each other...i hate being the "new" one
I feel the same way you do about the GTG on here but its hard for me because I am a working mom. Only 2 of my friends have children right now and 2 are pregnant. I feel like I should have more mommy friends but I dont

You should totally come to GTG's. I'm from NJ and didn't know anyone really when I moved here. Some of DH's friends I became close with, but once I had DS I don't see them anymore since they don't have kids. My close friends are in NJ and they have kids. It's hard to GTG with them since I work full time and our weekends are jammed.
I joined LIF for that very reason. I thought everyone would know each other and I'd feel left out. TOTALLY NOT THE CASE. Everyone is wonderful and I've met some great pple. Still hope to meet more

I am all about making new friends - but I honestly have zero interest in making "Mommy" friends -
To me, it's like petty HS bullshyte all over again -
If my new friend happens to be a Mom, score an extra point for having something ELSE in common - but I'm really bad about making the effort to make "Mommy" specific friends -
I have plenty of friends/family w/ kids - I have you guys to come to for opinions/advice (and judgement)
I feel for you, I think the HARDEST place to 'make friends' is on the freakin' playground !!

in the same boat. i'm a very shy person by nature so it takes a lot of effort for me to strike up a convo with a complete stranger. i guess i need to just get over it. going to check out that fb group later when i get home from work.
