Mammogram question
so i went for my annual mammogram about 2 weeks ago the day before my period. i get a letter in the mail to come back for additional views. this happened in the past because i've been told i have dense breasts so i'm not too worried. so i go back today. took another test and a sonogram. they asked me when my next period is. i told them in about 2 weeks. i get an "AH' but is not saying much. i ask her what's up. she said all i really see is tissue, nothing dominant & to come back in about 3 months on the 3 day of my period. my original mammogram was the day before my period.
i guess my question is are breasts lumpier or denser at certain times during the month?
i was hoping for a clean bill of health. this wait is going to kill me.. i'm driving myself crazy researching this on the internet
has anybody gone through this ?

Re: Mammogram question
I guess the question is do you trust this doctor. A competent radiologist would have sent you for additional imaging and or a biopsy if she thought there was anything truly suspicious. If you are that concerned you can always take your films to another radiologist for a 2nd opinion and peace of mind.

Re: Mammogram question
I was always told to go 3-5 days after AF. There are changes that occur right before and during AF and they won't get a true picture.

Re: Mammogram question
I have never been told to come at a certain time of the month. Hmm...but I have been through the waiting game. Though my gyno had me go see a surgeon last year when my mammo was showing some density. The surgeon took a look at the images and examined me and said I had two options wait for 6 months and do another mammogram or do an MRI....a biopsy was not an option because of the location and dpth. I chose to wait the 6 months....and now a yeear later the density is gone. Not sure if it had to do wtih when my period last was but that is interesting as in maybe that was what mine was all about. Good luck...I would advise talking to your gyno and see what he/she recommends.

Re: Mammogram question
I just had one a week ago and was told to go sometime during my period. I too have dense boobs and they did a sonogram. The doctor 'read' it right away and they sent me a note in the mail that everything was normal.
IMO, an 'ah' is not informative at all. Since you are paying and/or insurance, you were robbed of an exam. I would call the office and ask to be helped.
