I can't get over the fact that you guys throw such elaborate parties!
I was going to invite a bunch of friends with similar aged babies to meet me at a local soft play centre and maybe have some cake!

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
Wow, I haven't done a thing but did start to think about it.
Here's my delima- DS turns one on April 23- a Saturday great. But its the day before Easter. DH's mom and Brother are in Michigan and want to be able to come but flights might be too much. But if I did it that weekend I could have an Easter theme, with an egg hunt and Bunny character, etc. And we'd be celebrating on his actual birthday.
What would you do?

My DD's b-day is 4/22. I am doing it on 5/1. Hopefully the weather is a little better by then too!

My DS has same b-day! We are doing it that day, but we don't have family OOS. Maybe it would be an excuse for them to come for the holiday and his b-day. Why not get your MILs feedback? I figure if I do a 1 o'clock party, everyone will have time to go home and still do their night before Easter thing...Besides, my DH is not off the next weekend and I don't want to do it the weekend before b/c he didn't turn ONE yet, KWIM?!?! I would try and do it in early May, but my nephew is receiving Communion on 5/7. The way I look at it, people that want to celebrate will be there.

DS' brthday is 4/20 and I wanted to have his party 4/2...I totally didn't realize that it was the day before Easter until I read your post.
I think I might still aim for this date and just have the party go from 12-5pm.

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
We are having Kate's at the little gym in merrick.
I booked it last week and I cannot believe she is going to be 1 in a little over 2 months.
She is in March and we didn't want to take a chance with the weather. Now that it's booked I'm sure it will be 80 degrees and sunny that day.

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
Wow this post really made me realize how behind I am!!! All I have done so far is booked a hall and photographer. I think I'd like to do a jungle safari theme and have these elaborate, grandiose ideas of getting big cardboard cutouts of jungle animals and palm trees to decorate the hall with, hang jungle vines and panels of green fabric from the ceilings, mosquito netting, etc. It looks pretty in my head but I'm having such a hard time making a plan of action.
Still on the to-do list:
Food Invites Goodie Bags Guest list Decorations Cake
I would also love to do a candy station. We shall see!

Its complicated. I really wish it could be this simple for me.
I have a huge family who all want to see the baby, and I have tiny apartment. I don't want them here, cause they come in tiny armies when they do.
I rather throw a 50+ person party and get rid of them in one shot, not have to cater, or clean up after them, or deal with my very nosy aunt looking into my underwear drawer
And then if things aren't up to par, I hear the whispers "I wonder is she's going back to work, I wonder if they are okay with money, They are still in that tiny apartment, oh and with a baby, oh my gosh, I wonder if that other place was out of their budget" ...

A safari theme was my second choice (I freakin love giraffes so I was thinking maybe a giraffe theme specifically).

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
I have Charlie's "friends" party booked (her and Bobby-Dani77 are having a combined party at Mommy & Me)
As for family, nothing yet. I'm looking for a hall. I think we are going to do her 1st bday the same day as her christening (also not booked) and do a combined party (and also celebrate Little Billy's 4th bday)

Those of you that did your menus- what are you doing for kid food? We'll have kids there in the range of 1 to 4 years old.

Italian restaurant so we have chicken cutlet, meatballs and pasta for the kids.
When we had DS1's party at home we did a try of chicken tenders and pasta specifically for them. But most of the kids ate a little bit of other things too.

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
Ok...maybe it's just me but my DD will be 1 in May and I haven't even thought about planning a birthday. When the time comes I am not having anything big. Maybe a barbeque or something. I don't really know any children my daughter's age and don't see having such a huge party when she will not even know what's going on. Of course we will celebrate with a cake and some pictures to document her big milestone.I am kind of jealous that a lot of the posts have such great plans...am I missing something?

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
We are just doing a small party at the house with about 20 of our closest friends. we are doing the mod monkey theme. the girls will be one in april and i think we are doing it in may just because Easter is a few days before their birthday. My bff is making the cookie favors and I know the dresses I'm ordering from etsy. already got the headbands.every week i'm just going to pick up a few things. there are about 10 kids coming so that's my biggest thing is the goody bags.

We have an idea of the date, have her photoshoot booked, have a theme and my friend Tara (mrss518) is helping me with decor (enchanted forest/fairies). Other than that, I am dragging my feet and I know I shouldn't.
I'm might be doing a fairy theme too! I'm still in the process of doing that or a cupcake theme. My dd will be 1 in April. Have a place, caterer, between 2 invitatons. Was thinking of getting a face painter. Also want to get a tent/tables since it will be at my house.

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
I finally got my @ss moving. DD will be 1 March 1st.
Our theme is Enchanted Forest/Fairies. Her colors are light pink, light green and lavender.
I still need to book the place, but I am pretty sure we will use American Legion in Port Jefferson Station.
I made her birthday tutu!
I bought her leggings on Etsy, I am in the process of getting her a cute hat and I will be talking to SillyBeanz for another headband!
I booked her 1 year shoot with AvaJack Photography.
My very good friend Tara (mrss518) are working on designing her invites and decor.
I am working on her name letters for the candy table and I bought moss for the decor. I also eyed some butterflies and ceramic mushrooms.
I made the invite list and all other lists I need
I am figuring out the food and planning the dessert/candy table.
I decided on entertainment (for the babies, I will be setting up a bunch of Sienna's big toys and for the older kids I will have a craft table) Music will be an Ipod list on shuffle, which is DH's project.

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
So our theme ... oy vey ... cars and trains ... with cat in the hat ... I'm so bad at themes, but I always want to be different, poor DS with his crazy mommy.
So every hall/restaurant I wanted is booked on both the sat and sun of DS birthday. I lucked out and found a party place that has a separate room for adults to eat.
They caters from one of the restaurants I wanted, huge plus for my family who's expecting to be feast. They have tons of entertainment for kids, and throw in free character.
Now just have to choose the menu. The kids are getting pizza, and they can eat from the adult buffet too. Just have to figure out what to order.
Cake in negotiations ... and I think we are all systems go!
Its still going to be but going to save me all the "so when can we drop by with our 5 kids and 2 dogs to your tiny apartment and see the baby"

Re: March/April/May Mommies..1st birthdays?
I also got my butt in gear this past week!
Location is booked.
Invitation design is done - just have to finalize it and order.
Went to Michaels and Staples for lots of supplies for things I want to make.
Planned out entertainment (toys for the kids and a few party games), just need to make a few things for them.
Decided on decorations.
Booked a cake lady! So excited for the cake!!!
Started to plan out the dessert table.
Started planning out goody bags, need to order the items.
I will be doing a LOT of DIY stuff
