mas shower questions

I need to pick a date this week.

I am looking somewhere in the 4 weeks between mid Aug and mid Sept.

I am leaning towards being earlier rather than later in my pregnancy since it will be at my house and I will undoubtably have at least some extra work to do.

I am trying to figure out if having it Labor Day weekend would be good or bad for guests attending since my house is about 1.5 hours away for most of them, which is also why for non holiday weeks I picked Saturdays instead of Sundays.

so, these are my options....

Sat 8/22-32+ weeks
Sat 8/29 or Sun 8/30 (LDW)- 33+ weeks
Sat Sept 5- 34 + weeks

Re: mas shower questions

I would err on the side of caution and do it on 8/22 - this way you have longer to do returns (if necessary), get the nursery prepared, wash clothing, etc....

I would do Sat Sept 5th, I just had mine yesterday at 35 weeks, so you'll still have time...and maybe some people go away LDW?

JMO though

Re: mas shower questions

I think going 8/22 is the best bet unless you do it a week earlier. My thoughts are LDW is a big travel weekend & would not be a good weekend to do a shower. Plus the further along you go, the more uncomfy you will become.

My shower is when I will be 31 weeks & honestly I think it is perfect timing. Gives us time to do returns if necessary

Re: mas shower questions

I picked 8/22.

I voted the earliest date because showers are exhausting. You'll be "on" all day, and the further you are in your pregnancy, the more tired you'll get.

And since the shower will be at your home, you'll be on all weekend preparing, setting up, and then cleaning up.

If you opt to do it Labor Day weekend, I would just tell my immediate family sooner rather than later just so they don't make other plans.

Just wanted to let you know that Labor Day is on September 7th this year--I know this because it's my DD's 4th b-day! Chat Icon

So, if you didn't want it to be as early as 8/22, you could even do it the week after and still avoid LDW--which may be a bad choice since a lot of people make plans to go away that weekend.

Re: mas shower questions

I'd do 8/22 or earlier. I had my NY one at 29 weeks and I felt great! I liked having it early while I still had a lot of energy. Even now (a week later) at 30+ weeks i'm feeling more run down and tired than last week.

Re: mas shower questions

32 weeks is the perfect time. That is when I had my shower with Jack. You still feel decent enough to go through everything, do your returns, put things away. I think anything later and it just gets too hard IMO.

Re: mas shower questions

I voted for 8/22 I think that is a good time, and gives enough time for your to do the returns and get things ready.

Re: mas shower questions

I would do it earlier rather than later and not on labor day weekend b/c people may already have plans to go away for that weekend. I would ask a few of your key guests which weekend they prefer and go from there. I would do a Saturday over a Sunday, but that is just me.
