This could just be my baised opinion since I am really disgusted with McCain, ESPECIALLY because of his pandering to the right, but I feel this pick is manipulative and is 100% to get the women who wanted to see a woman in the White House to vote for him. It feels manipulative. I know I should be happy that a woman is running for VP, but I don't feel it's genuine. Then again, every VP choice is meant to win over SOME voting block or other.
I just have to hope that the women who supported HIllary Clinton will vote based on the issues and causes she support and vote for Barack Obama instead of voting (imo) against their own interests by voting for McCain. I just want to add that a woman who was for Hillary and is still on the fence would most likely not vote for McCain/Palin. she is ULTRA conservative and probably the polar opposite of HRC. The only things they probably have in common are boobs and being a wife and a mom

those articles did not note that while Biden did not attribute portions of a Kinnock speech he paraphrased during an August 23, 1987, Democratic presidential primary debate, and during an August 26, 1987, interview for the National Education Association, Biden reportedly had credited Kinnock. According to a September 13, 1987, Washington Post article, "Biden and reporters covering his campaign said that in speeches before and after that debate the senator has given Kinnock credit for the same passionate rhetoric, which he has used repeatedly in recent weeks."

I'm an Obama girl, but even so, here's my problem with this Palin situation.... How is she going to give her all to this campaign with a four-month old at home who has Down's syndrome? I know if I were in her situation, I could not.
How many of us have to work and put our kids in day care? How is it different?
Also, she has a daughter who is a teenager who can babysit and her hubby I am sure will be there. Plus, if I were her, ALL of my kids including the 4 month old...on planes, in cars, on the campaign trail. What a way to actually SHOW working moms that you are LIVING what they live. That you KNOW what they are going through. IMHO, as long as her kids are with her or her DH I see no problem with it. I am sure her kids will have tutors as will Obama's kids. What a great way to show your kids our government in action. I praise Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin for bringing their kids on the campaign trail with them.
Being the VP is not just any job. I don't think she will do either job well. Too much on her plate.
I disagree. Do I not do my job well b/c in the eyes of many (men and women) I am:
1) considered "disabled" and 2) I am a mom , have a child, and work P/T. I have A LOT on MY plate...do I stink as a mom? Do I stink as a title closer and broker??? NO!!!!
I am here to tell you, I bust my azz at closings and before the closing. I tend to know more than the attys sitting at the table.
Women today who are moms WANT someone who knows what it is like to go back to work after having a child.
I know I want someone who I feel has "lived a day in my shoes" which I feel she has. I would be willing to bet that she has been on the phone to at least one insurance company to debate with them about getting her son coverage for something he needed for his illness/disability. Has Biden done that? Has Obama? Has McCain?
Have they looked into their child's eyes as they are pulling on your leg screaming for you not to leave? Have they cried in their car after leaving their kid at day care, with Dh or with a baby sitter? Ummm, I'm gonna say...NOPE. Obama, Biden and MCain will never experience what I have as a working mom. To have that choice and if you choose not to work you are blacklisted like you are a moron, if you choose to go back to work you are abandoning your child...working moms (in or outside of the home) are damned if they go back, damned if they stay home.

I think the selection of her, if its intended to lure the Hillarr supporters, is basically an insult to the intelligence of Hillary supporters. Palin is VERY opposite from Hillary, about the only thing they have in common is that they are both women.
She's totally socially conservative, pro-life, anti gay marriage, pro capital punishment, pro drilling in the Alaska wildlife preserve, has big ties to big oil. She has no experience (I'm sorry but 2 years as govenor of Alaska is not enough experience to be a heartbeat away from preisdent, especially when that president is as old as McCain, IMO)
McCain made a "panic" pick and I think the next 60 or so days are going to show that.
I'm interested to hear the first quote from Hillary on the topic.
I agree. If anything, it's an insult to women.

I cut the other quotes out so this wouldn't be long and difficult to read...
That said, she is everything that YOU would ever want to be maybe, but not me. Not by a LONG shot.
I think the idea that it's an insult to HILLARY SUPPORTERS - not all women everywhere. I was a Hillary supporter. I'm pro-choice, I support gay marriage. Putting a female on the ticket assuming I'm voting solely based on gender is an insult. I'm voting on the issues that matter to me.
And I'm just tossing this out as an explanation because people seem so put off by the 'insult to women' comment. I'm not insulted because I don't think McCain chose her to get my vote. He knows he can't get my vote with an ultra-conservative.

Thank you, I was just thinking the same thing. I'm sure there have been presidents and vice presidents in the past with disabled kids and I'm sure the issue wasn't even brought up. If we want to move foward as women we should not be questioning her choice about her career.

I'm saying that if HE thinks that's the case, then he's mistaken. While it would be awesome to see a woman in office, I seriously hope he isn't thinking that he got the female vote by picking her. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, who knows right now. What I am saying is that I truly hope he isn't assuming that vaginas everywhere will unite and bam, he'll be in!
