Middle of the night CIO
So I never thought I could do CIO but last night I did. DD goes to sleep initially on her own at night, the middle of the night is so inconsistent. Some night she STTN, some nights she gets up between 3 - 4 has a bottle and is back to sleep quickly. Other nights like last night she kept getting up, I would rock her to sleep only for her to get up again 30 minutes later. The 4th time she was so fidgity, I was frustrated so I kissede her, gave her her paci and put he rin her crib. Within 5 minutes she was screaming, but with our AC and her AC on it wasn't that bad (DH didn't hear anything )
About 40 minutes into the crying she fell asleep. My question is, in the middle of the night do you go in and soothe (give her her paci and blanket first) then let her cio or do I just let her cry? FYI she is 8 months

Depends on the kid. My first would just get more angry if we came in the room and tried to soothe her. So we didn't. My second we would go in more often for because it seemed to help her calm down.

I agree with this. DS is almost 10 months old and he had this really sticky 4am waking. When I wasn't able to soothe him anymore I decided we needed to do something about it. So last month I bought Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child. The author suggests "extinction" which is basically letting them cry it out and not going in. It's taken a while for us - probably because DS is so stubborn, but I also think it's partly because of his age - but he's been STTN from 7pm until 6am for about a week now. If you can't really hear the crying then all the better

I can hear it, but I shut the sound off the monitor and just watched her on the video. Again the sound of the AC drowned her crying out though last night. I leave 5 paci's in her crib, I don't get why she wont just pick one up. During the day she take them off the coffee table or the floor and puts it in her mouth.
