Milk allergy moms - snack list to provide to preschool -Please help
At my daughter's preschool the parent's bring snack for the whole class on their participation day. Last year I was bringing a snack each day for DD - but this year I was told they want her to have the group snack as much as possible to make her feel more included. I KNOW most parents will NOT follow this list - but I had been told to make a list of anything that parents "might" want to bring that my DD CAN eat. They would like a list that reads like: pretzels any of x brand or these particular ones, These kinds of teddy grahams, these brands of bagels, or muffins, etc.
Honestly DD (4yrs) mostly eats cheerios, fresh fruit, and very limited pretzels. I don't give her most of those things.
Can any milk allergy moms help me with somethings that are good class snacks that she can eat.
BTW she is also allergic to chocolate, oranges and strawberries (and shellfish). It is a peanut/tree nut free classroom.
They want me to make a list of anything a parent "might" want to bring in for the whole class.
So far I have - I feel like the list is pretty huge that I'm not sure what to add etc so I could use some guidance:
Stuff to drink:- (most bring apple or milk but occasionally you will get someone who will bring something else in water (obvious) Apple, white grape, cranberry lemonade
No orange/tangerine etc or tropical fruit juices No milk
Kidzels Bachman pretzels Any Bachman pretzels except the butter twist Honey Teddy Grahams Cinnamon Teddy Grahams Honeymaid - graham crackers honey or cinnamon plain cheerios Veggie Pirates booty (Only flavor allowed) Newman's organic Ginger O's (ginger oreos) Golden Oreos only (no cakesters or chocolate oreos) Plain Ritz and Roasted vegetable ritz crackers Stretch Island fruit company - Fruitabu - grape or apple
Cherrybrook Kitchens - vanilla cake mix, sugar cookies or vanilla graham - provided it is made with soy or other non dairy alternative, and without butter (soy margarine or non dairy alternative i.e. earth's balance or mother's).
Muffins made from scratch provided they don't contain butter or milk (non dairy alternatives okay)
Thomas' bagel thins pepperidge farm plain bagel minis Thomas' cinnamon raisin bagels mini
Melon (cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew) Apples grapes (any) White peaches Pears Blueberries Raspberries pineapple Vegetable sticks or any vegetables
No oranges/tangarines etc, no strawberries, no tropical fruits (i.e. passionfruit, mangos etc)
Edy's fruit bars (in warm weather) peach, grape, lemonade, lime or lime

Carrot sticks or are they too young?? Applesauce cups.
Your list seems really good!
Thank you for this post! I never would have thought that Teddy grahms are dairy free, or golden Oreos! Dd is 3 months old & has a milk protein sensitivity and I EBF so I have to eat dairy free.

Thank you - I thought the golden ones did have milk - but I guess not - She just can't have the chocolate ones. The cakesters do have milk though.

Back to Nature Honey Graham twists should be okay. Kashi cereal bars? I wouldn't trust any snacks brought in that the parent's make themselves. You don't know how many people I've come across that don't realize that margarine contains dairy.

Thank you I will add those two - honestly the list is kind of funny b.c there are some parents who don't care and others who bend over backwards. There are 7 epi pens in my DD's class so many of the parents are aware and pretty good. Last year the parents if they made something provided me with the labels of everything (margarine, soy - usually silk- etc before the day so I could tell them if it was okay or not okay- some even offered to go and buy a special cupcake for DD if needed). They will have snacks at preschool for her at all times in a separate zip lock so if I go I will just say sorry not comfortable give her the ones I provide. But I'm doing this b.c the director is insisting I give it for those parents who DO want to make sure all the kids can eat whatever. I know there are 2 parents who always make cherrystone kitchen cupcakes with smart balance so that everyone can have one. My real problem is that they like chocolate and DD can't have that so I know she is going to miss out on a lot of the special snacks (they will have cupcakes in their freezer I made for her). The ones who bake tend to be the ones who have gluten or peanut/tree nut allergies so they are more aware. We are lucky though - as her doctor thinks she will only get a little rashy or a few hives IF she does ingest milk cooked at worst - the milk for her that causes the coughing, stomach issues is b.c of things like cheese, yogurt or drinking milk - her doctors thought she was lactose intolerant before she tested positive - they tell me she is not a normal case. I'm a little more concerned about the chocolate (cocoa), orange and strawberry b.c I know sometimes they like those adam and eve drinks that have all sorts of things in them. Honestly almost all of the time - snack is pretzels, goldfish, teddy grahams, fresh fruit. Really 99% of the time they only bake for special holidays (thanksgiving, halloween, valentine's day -i.e. pumpkin muffins, blueberry muffins etc - so she probably won't have those anyway) or cupcakes for birthdays. Last year I had parents saying to me tell me what brand of soy milk, what brand of butter
