we used to do naughty chair, when that stopped working I started what supernanny talked about in her book - if all else fail, no warning just take your child to their room... it actually works, you can't imagine how quickly David comes out and apologizes!
some other things that work for us is no TV or taking away his toys, but the above-mentioned technique is really the best way to go for us...

I feel like I'm being tested on a daily basis and failing horribly.
He didn't nap today so he had tantrum after tantrum. He hit me, blocked me on the stairs, shut the door in my face, pushed me. You name it.
I just calmly put him to bed (with very little milk which he is obsessed with) when I really wanted to lose my mind. I told him that we don't do any of the above, and because of the way he treated me he is going to bed the same time as the baby. I am sure tomorrow will be the same thing. It feels like everything comes in waves, and unfortunately the bad waves tend to last longer than the good ones.
