Re: Moms of little boys...
I hate this book. Not only did I get one copy, I received two copies. I donated them to my local library. I think this is the creepiest most horrible children's book ever written.

Ummmm..the book that kills me is "On the Night You Were Born.....I weep like a little girl, and then I feel like DS is looking at me like ok, mom, enough
I feel the same about that book.
Maybe I have no emotions though because I'll love you Forever creeps me out....I did cry the first time I read it, but then I started to think about it and the part wher ethe Mom crawls in the grown mans bedroom? Ok, I get it, its a kids book, but still a bit creepy to me.

Apparently I have no heart..... I've always thought that book was a little creepy.
Though there are books that are tearjerkers for me, that is not one of them. The picture of the old mommy holding the big man gives me the heebie-jeebies. Sorry.
I too am totally creeped out by that book! haha I remember in one of my lit classes my teacher talking to us about it and saying how weird it was and even when I tried to read it to DS years later I still think it's creepy.

Re: Moms of little boys...
I read this story to my DS and balled trough it. DH teased me that it's "Creepy" since the mom climbs through the window of her son's house.

ITA! When I was the director for a daycare, we had the book in all the pre-k rooms, and the teachers used to bug out reading it..but many people like it, and it hits all a different way.

Yes! We got it as a gift and I read it to one night before he fell asleep. DH picked it up to read it to him the next day and I wouldn't let him. It made me cry but I found it veeeeery depressing too!

OH MY GOD - thank you!!!!! I really was beginning to think there was something wrong with me b/c I feel the same way! Two different people gave me this book and both times I stashed them away b/c I think it's beyond bizarre. I mean, the mother goes into his adult house, climbs into his bed and rocks him to sleep - REALLY??
Sorry to the OP - this book just always weirded me out.

haha me too!
DH read that to her the first time, I was listening and thought he was making it up about her driving to the house and climbing thru the window.
I kept saying, "that's not in the book, you are making that up!"
