For myself, DH & DS, we spend around $400-$450 a month. We eat out or take in maybe 3 times a month.

Wow. WOW. I spend probably $600-750 a month for 2 adults and 2 kids (about 3 adults worth total). DH buys lunch in the City every day, and we order in about once a week on average. This doesn't include Costco where I get paper goods/cleaning stuff, organic milk for the kids, meat, etc. Yikes.

Mine is sick. It makes me sick. AND I clip coupons like crazy but we do eat very welll...its about $800-900/month. That is 2 adults, a 3 y/o and a 2 y/o.

eta; just realized, this does include napkins, toilet paper, some cleaning supplies & sometimes paper towels....when not bought at target.

I'm guessing around $600/month for 3 people (DH, myself & DS who is 9 months). The reason it's so high is because I eat 95% organic, and can only eat certain foods because of DS's allergies (I'm BFing). So most of what I buy is a specialty item, and of course nothing I eat EVER goes on sale

ETA: DH brings food to work sometimes, but also buys lunch/dinner at work. That's an additional $300

I don't really know We spend between 400-500 a month on food, diapers, wipes, cleaning stuff, and household needs. I would guess maybe 300 a month on just food? There is DH, Myself, and 14m DD. We get organic milk, some organic veggies/fruits/meats. I would say 95% of what we buy is make your own food. By that I mean we don't get much proccessed food anymore. We make our own bread, and most meals are homemade now that i'm a sthm. I am going to also be canning, freezing, and pickling food this fall for the winter and we'll be buying 1/2 an organic cow to split with my mom. This year will be more money up front at times, but in the long run healthier and cheaper at year end. I am also CRAZY about coupons. It doesn't help as much with "real" food but it saves our asss on wipes/diapers/laundry/toilet/paper towels and so on.

I just showed this post to DH and he couldn't believe some of the bills. He thought I spent a lot ($400.00 average for 2 adults, a 5, 3 and 2 yr old) which I know is excellent for what I am getting.

what am I doing wrong? I spend $500.00 a WEEK on food. It is myself, DH, a 4 year old, a 3 year old and a set of twins that are 2. Help me save and give me some tips.

I would say I spend about $500 a month for me, DH and 20 month old DD. I am also pregnant so I buy treats for myself here and there and I buy organic milk, cheese, yogurt etc for DD. DH brings his lunch to work every day so I spend alot on cold cuts. also produce kills the budget too, it can get expensive!

Its DH,me , 4 yr old and a 1 1/2 yr old and our bill is around 500-600 a month.

$50-$75 for me and DD

i dont cook much...we go to my parents i let them buy the food lol

shes also at daycare for lunch....so mainly its only stuff for me during the day and breakfast for DD during the week.
we eat at home prob 3 nights a week and at my parents the rest since i am not a cook in any form of the word. then weekends all meals at home usually!

We spend about $500-$750 a month for 2 adults, 18 month old & 7.5 month.

DH bags his lunch everyday & now that I am doing WW, I am buying a lot more fresh fruits/veggies & healthier snacks (ie costs more) We only eat out 1-2 times every other week. I cook dinner almost everynight.

anywhere from 400-600/month, depending on how much I end up cooking. it's less if we do a lot of take out since that's not part of the grocery bill

the above is for a family of 3, living in Manhattan and does not include lunch for myself (I often pick up a salad), nor does it include dinner every night of the week even if it's a good week for cooking. when I cook a lot, we still get at least one night of take-out - I work too much to cook every night. I try to buy healthier and organic foods as much as possible, within reason and as long as the quality is good. organic produce in the winter is not always in the best shape.

this also doesn't include the periodic TJ's run, where I spend probably another $100 stocking up, but a lot of the items last much longer than a month.

I don't want to know what we spend on take-out

$1000 a month easy. Every time we go to the supermarket we spend close to $200 (weekly) the we get odds and ends during the week plus I get my coffees, sodas and breakfast at work.

About $100 a week grocery store, $50 a week butcher and then a $300 per week costco. Then the target for diapers, formula, etc... is about $200. 4 kids and 2 adults.

Then probably another $150 per month on pizza or dinners out.

It's DH and myself....

My 3 girls ages 17, 12, & 12...

And my son age 3...

My mother is here part time as well....

Not to mention my DH's 2 girls who come here as well....

WOW! The #'s are all over the place. Do some people really spend only $100-$150 a MONTH?? How does that work??

We spend on average $140/week at the store. BUT this covers pretty much everything (toiletries). DH takes lunch to work every day as well as breakfast and we order in or pick up food once a week.

We eat a lot of organic so that ads up. I cut coupons but I am not a sale shopper. I am super picky about brand names as well.
It is what is is. I just deal with it.

Too much. We are a organic household, and it gets pricey. We also eat mostly fish, and it is wild caught. If I buy red meat it has to be grass fed, hormone free chicken, etc. I would say we are around 800 a month for me, dh, dd and the dog. DD is on table food now so the produce adds up. She also has a milk protein allergy/egg allergy. The things she can eat, and me too b/c I am nursing are not cheap. I am in VA so I have Wegmans here. Sometimes they have ok sales. Between there and trader joes it adds up. I feel better now seeing other ppl spending around the same.
