moving from crib to bed
How did you do it? DS is 26 mos old and still in a crib, he doesn't try to climb out so i felt there was no need to move him. Now I recently got a BFP and want to move him to a bed, a new room and out of diapers before the baby comes. In small steps obviously. The first step being a bed, so how did you do it? how did you prepare DC?

Re: moving from crib to bed
DS was about 18 months b/c he was climbing out of the crib. I surprised him with his new "big boy bed" {a twin size with breathable rails} and he had no problems transitioning. GL

I want to transition too but I am so nervous. We are going to change her crib into the day bed and then hopefully get her into a twin in a couple of months. We'll need the crib for the new baby probably around June.

Re: moving from crib to bed
I moved my son a month or so shy of 2.5 about a month before the new baby arrived. We did new room and new bed (single bed with rail) all at once. It went incredibly well. He loved his crib so we were nervous but he never looked back. We just got him use to the idea of being a big boy and getting a big boy room. We let him help in the painting of it which he loved. We decorated it in a transportation theme so he loved that too. He was so excited for the big boy room.
He sleeps well in the big boy bed (over a year now) and never really gets out on his own until it is time to get out (well one week he started running out i the middle of the night but then it stopped). He still calls for us when he wakes up and then gets out when we get there.
One thing we never mentioned the baby was taking his old room. We did it before the baby arrived and figured the baby would be in a bassinet for a month so that gave him time to love his room and not want to go back.
