Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
I didn't know there were progesterone pills...
In any case, I would think that either the suppositories ( or PIO shots like I was on) gets right into your system as opposed to something like a pill that can take a while to absorb...
I also have mild PCOS, but was never told that progesterone could be affected ..
It really seems you need a specialist ( possibly one that specialiizes in recurrent MC's) I know how much it stinks to pay OOP , as I had to do the same...
Good luck

Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
Yeah, especially being as you are on Clomid, if you are being seen by an RE they do bloodwork throughout the cycle to check things like progesterone etc. and may be able to give you something before it becomes an issue ...
I was seen by a regular OB before going to an RE and wasted 7 cycles on Clomid without proper monitoring, so I am very passionate about people going to an RE for stuff like this....
I'm sorry

Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
I am glad you are going to see Dr. B. I am not really sure about the difference between pills (I was on them and they didn't help) and shots/suppositories, but I imagine the pp is correct and they go right into your system.
I think seeing an RE will help you tremendously. I wasted a bunch of time trying things with my OB (including those progesterone pills), but once I went to my RE, things got moving quickly and I am 28wks pg with twins right now.
Definitely keep your hope alive, this could really be the difference for you...good luck!!!!!!

Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
You really need to see an immune specialist. Your progesterone is low because you are miscarrying. I think you can see Dr B as out of network and get reimbursed...I actually saw a immune Dr in Chicago who did a whole work up on me in 1 day. My DH and I spent the weekend there. I paid for the flight and my co-pay...that was it. her name is Dr Kwak-Kim and she worked under Dr Beer who was the pioneer of reproductive immune treatment.
She followed me through my pregnancy with my dr's and I had healthy twin boys

Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
how's your TSH (thyroid) level? if it's too high or too low that can mess w/ your hormones and cause m/c
it's an easy fix w/ meds.

Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
i would assume they would put you on progesterone IM shots since they say its supposed to be absorbed a lot better than the pills... dont know if there is any truth to that but definitely look into that!

Re: Multiple Miscarriages from low progesterone
dr. b is DEFINITELY the right person to see!!
he most likely would have had you on progesterone in the post-O part of your cycle all along. most likely in the form of suppositories or crinone gel. they both absorb a lot better than the pills and they are said to have much less side effects.
you should 10000% be completely monitored on clomid because one of the main clomid side effects is a sucky uterine lining, and if you combine that with low post-O progesterone, its going to be very difficult for complete implantation to occur.
soooo sorry you are going through this. make sure you tell dr. b about your financial concerns, he always does whatever he can to get around them.
