Definitely not. I don't like the idea of other people sleeping in my bed.

Ditto here. That creeps me out.

Um, I dont think I have a choice? They are older and I think they should sleep in a bed. DH and I will be okay on the futon or the blow up mattress. Not that this makes me happy but I think its the right thing to do.

I agree. If they're staying for more than a night or two (which they would since they live far away) I would hope they'd stay at a hotel, but if not I would give up my bed to them.

No. Wouldnt offer bc they have a couple of beds, and if we were to sleep there, we would have to sleep on a blow up.

Re: My current "discussion" with DH: If your in laws were to stay over your house for the weekend...

I don't think I would offer but I don't think they would accept if I did anyway.

I have a good friend who, when he was married, his parents asked to rest in his house one afternoon before making the drive home. It was after his parents spent the entire day with his kids at a museum. The only space they had was his bed. His wife threw a fit and refused to allow it. In that situation, I think that the wife was totally wrong. She should have let the inlaws nap in her bed in the afternoon.

Re: My current "discussion" with DH: If your in laws were to stay over your house for the weekend...

we have a 2 bedroom apt and my parents have stayed with us twice: once, right after DD was born they stayed in the guest room, but we had to go out & buy a twin aerobed because the bed in there is full-sized (aka double) and they would not be comfortable in that. Chat Icon I was not happy. We just had a baby and had to run out to BB&B to buy it. But I refused to give up my queen right after I had a baby & DD was sleeping with us in our room. When they came for DD's christening we gave them our room because DD was in her crib in her room/guest room so DH & I stayed in there with her. I don't like giving up our bed. For some reason it gives me the creeps. We change the sheets & everything so I'm not sure why.

I wouldn't have anyone staying over unless I had a spare bedroom....where there would be a perfectly fine bed. No need to take over mine!Chat Icon

Re: My current "discussion" with DH: If your in laws were to stay over your house for the weekend...

Chat Icon No......I think that leads to certain expectations. I would say " We have a lovely aero bed just waiting for a tester!" If you start this now then you are opening yourself up to it being expected everytime. I think it's creepy. Why would you want your parents or inlaws in the bed that you and DH...you know......have adult married timeChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If they stayed in our room, I'd have to empty out the night stand drawer. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't think they'd stay at our place anyway, I think they'd get a room somewhere else.

Re: My current "discussion" with DH: If your in laws were to stay over your house for the weekend...

We used to have a 1-bedroom and we always offered for my IL's to sleep in our bed, but they insisted on sleeping on the couch. They usually stayed over 1-2 nights... only a couple times in the 2 yrs we lived there.

NOPE! I don't even allow my parents to sleep in it when they come to visit.

They would get a blow up mattress.

Yes, I would offer the bed. We have with both my parents and Dh's. We didnt accept "no" for an answer. We slept on the uncomfortable Sofa Bed and we didnt mind b/c we would never want our parents sleeping on it.

But, we are setting up our guest bedroom. So they will no longer have to stay in our master bedroom

Re: My current "discussion" with DH: If your in laws were to stay over your house for the weekend...

yes, I offered and they took it.

At this point I would lend them my bed, car, freaking toothbrush to have them show any interest in DH's life.

I get tons of company...I have a 2 bedroom apt. In the nursery, I have a queen size bed.

No b/c I have a bad back and can't sleep on the floor or couch...Thankfully I have 3 guest rooms, two with beds, and the other which was used for the first time this weekend, they slept on an air mattress.
