NCPD Cop shot in Queens
From Newsday.com:
A Nassau County police officer was fatally shot Tuesday on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens, according to a source.
A suspect was also fatally shot, the source said.
The fatality comes one day after the burial of a Nassau highway patrolman, who was struck and killed by an SUV on the Long Island Expressway on Thursday.
A NBC News 4 report, citing sources, said an emergency services officer was shot on the parkway, at Jamaica Avenue.
The circumstances of the shooting also were not known.
The officer was taken to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Manhasset, according to the report.
The Cross Island was closed in both directions because of police activity, according to the New York state Department of Transportation.
The department's website, informny.com, reported the closing near Jamaica Avenue at 11:33 a.m. in a traffic alert.
A spokeswoman for Nassau County police said there was activity at the Cross Island, but had no further information.
"We're trying to sort it out," she said.

This is what News 12 is saying:
Multiple sources say a Nassau County Police Officer has been fatally shot in Bellerose Terrace. The incident occurred near the Cross Island Parkway southbound at exit 26D. The officer's injuries are unknown at this time. The Cross Island Parkway is closed southbound from exit 26 to exit 27.
So did the officer die or are his injuries unknown, or is there more then one officer?

What an awful thing, these men and women put their lives on the line for us everyday and you just never know what could happen. My prayers are with the family

This always gives me chills and I immediately think of my cousin and sister's bf... I just hate that these animals have such easy access to guns/weapons. It's maddening.

The officer was DOA @ the hosp. Terribly sad! Many to his family!

I'm sick to my stomach.
Yesterday I attended the funeral of another Nassau Officer and now this. I don't know HOW this Department is doing this - I just don't know how all of these men are getting through this. It is unbelievable how low the morale is and how devastated and destroyed these Officers are - talking with some of them yesterday, they literally look like shells of who they once were. And they admittedly feel that way - they just feel so beat down by all of the violence and injustice. When the economy suffers like it is, it just makes crazy people even crazier and everyone seems to lose their marbles - and that is when Officers get hurt and killed. It's just disturbing. After yesterday, and now this, I'm just profoundly sad - and that sentiment can be seen on the faces of every Nassau County member. This is the fourth line of duty death in less than two years. Inconceivable.

This incident on the CIP and the others happened because of the economy?? I didn't get to read about them in detail...

My mom just told me about the press conference update. So SCARY! This guy is still running around. He shot the cop and someone else that he carjacked and they have no leads and not even a really good description of the guy.
WTF??!! What a freaking monster!!
