No one needs a weekend away more than YOU and it is for one of your best friends....however, I could only imagine what Kevin is going through. Maybe you just being around will help him....dont be mad at me for saying this

I wouldn't go.
I would be with my SIL without my husband, unless she wanted to be alone.
And in that case, I would prepare her a casserole, and let he rknow I am home, by my phone, if she needs me.

Jen, I would never be mad at you for saying it.
I just wish I could do both, ya know?
I told Kevin I wasn't going, so that's it. He said whatever I want to do is fine.
I said, how does that look, not good, he agreed.
Thanks Don for the reference from the ILs perspective.

I definately would NOT go but thats just me. Even if I was just sitting around doing NOTHING, at least I know I would be there for my dh and his family.
I know you were looking forward to this and everyone is different. I dont know how the family is or how they take things so I can only answer based on my family. We like to be together during times like these and if for some reason we truly CANNOT be, then it is understood. But if this is your choice whether or not you go, I really wouldnt.
Again, thats only me though..only you can make that decision. Good luck, its a hard one!

me personally G, i wouldnt go. i think you should spend time with SIL or your IL's to show support even if kevin is at work. even if there's nothing to do, i'm sure SIL will appreciate your company and sympathy.
so sorry for your loss

So sorry for your loss - I wouldnt go, i would stay to support my DH and fam. My husbands cuz recently passes away and he would break down at the oddest times and I was there for him when he needed me. I felt bad leaving him to go to work.
But every situation is different. Do what u feel best.
