Need help with wood/pellet stove

We are shopping for either a pellet, wood burning stove or insert but I have no idea where to start. My fireplace guy said that with a pellet you might not be able to put it where my existing fireplace is. Also, he said look at the btu's. He recommended Vermont Castings but am open to look else where online (he said if you buy online I might get a better deal).

Also, how much do they cost and where has everyone bought their stove if they did it online?
