Neighbors parking in front of our house ,is there anything I can do?

The neighbors have something like 7 or 8 cars and park right in front of our house every single day. We park both of our cars in the driveway, but couldn't park one of them in the street even if we wanted to. If we have guests there is nowhere for them to park.
Is there anything we can do or are we out of luck because it is technically not our property since it is the street?

Forget the fact that all these cars belong to the teenagers to live there - I have no idea what the situation is with the house - I don't know how many teenagers could live in one house.
I've called the town about that, but apparently I guess whatever the situation is is legal.

As long as the cars are properly registered and insured, there's nothing you can really do.

Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do. It is so annoying. Do they park there even if there is a free space in front of their house? I hate that. But nothing much you can do. What does concern me is how many people live there?

Ugh! That's the worst!! Try not to use your driveway anymore...always park in front (if you can get a spot) - even if it means going out and randomly moving your car from the driveway to in front in the middle of the day when you see the spot open. When guests come, let them park in your driveway. Hopefully the neighbors will get the hint after a while. Good luck!

Start parking one of your cars on the street. maybe it will send a message.

Theres nothing you can do, it is a public street.

We have a HS not too far away and as the juniors start getting their permits and licenses, they park by my house because they cannot get a sticker to park at the HS until they are seniors. We were having work done last spring and the contractors had to get there early before school started to reserve their spots in front of our house.

Its annoying but the only thing you can do is maybe speak to the kids parents.

OMG! This irks me to no end when it is a constant thing. We dont have that problem in this house (we live on very quiet street plus we have a johnny pump in front ) BUT in our previous house this was such a problem AND parking was so bad on that street! WE had a driveway BUT needed to use the spot in front a lot AND when anyone came over there was no where for them to park bc our neighbors down the block would park there car there EVERY FREAKING DAY! I dont mind once in a while but it was EVERY day!!!

They were even to the point we would pull away from the spot and they would move there car in it in 2 min! we would come back and check!

start parking your cars in front of your house.. that'll send a message..

i had a neighbor who got a permit to put up a no parking sign in front of his house.

also, if you live in a village, there are town ordinances that limit street parking to only 4 hours at a time

I dont care if someone parks in front once in a while, like if they are getting work done, or have guests over.

But I dont like when someone parks every day, over night, for months on end.

Last year a new person moved into the legal 2 family rental across the street, and the guy started parking his car in front of my house
every single day and over night.

I started parking my car in front and it sent the message loud and clear, that neighbor has since moved out but it does work.

I have driveway parking for 3 cars plus a garage
so if someone comes over i can park in the street and they can have the driveway spot

Ugh, my neighbors son does this. Makes me crazy. Mind you on my block everyone has HUGE driveways. They all car fit at least 4 cars in them. So this "wanna be ganster" parks his cheese car in front of my house. Also, there driveway is full, but no one is in front of there house.

There's nothing you can do, but it drives me nuts, too! Our neighbors actually do that now, they "hold" the spot in front of my house while leaving their driveway empty until the other family members get home then they do this massive, ridiculous car shuffle in the street where they switch spots between 3 cars. Not to mention the fact that they park SOOOO close to our driveway we barely can swing it around enough to get in. Thank goodness it's a wide enough street.

Have you spoken with them about it? I can definitely see it being annoying, but maybe they simply don't see anything wrong with it.

My neighbors don't park in front of my house often, but they park directly behind the driveway which is a PITA when pulling out of the driveway. There are no houses across the street from us. They also park on their side of my driveway literally an inch away from the driveway. They have about 6 cars, and a 4 car driveway and only put 1 car in the driveway. DH parked his truck in the spot they park in behind the driveway a few days and I think they got the hint.....they park just over now.


There's nothing really to do about it, except maybe put your cars there to send a message.

We applied for a mother-daughter permit. When we went before the board, we were asked numerous times if we have enough off-street parking for our 3 cars. We said yes. We have a long driveway.

Our neighbor has at least 6 cars parked overnight. There are 3 in the driveway and 3 in the street..sometimes in front of our house. I don't know if all the car owners live in the house. Why is this OK..and we have put our cars in the driveway???

OMG i HATE this. dh and i park in our garage and have a reallllly long driveway, but our neighbors used to park infront of our house when we first moved in.
i started to park infornt of the house and after a while they got the hint and have not done it in months.

growing up we lived within walking distance of the LIRR and we rented a 2 family house - so we were not allowed to park in the garage or driveway. Every day people that didn't want to pay for the LIRR parking would park on my street and I had NOWHERE to park and I lived there. I'm sure it wasn't just me that was annoyed because I noticed one of the neighbors somehow got their hands on those bright orange stickers that say you are illegally parked or something like and would put it on their windows everyday (I guess he'd watch them get out and walk down the block to the train.) He did this everyday and eventually we were able to park again until new train people tried it and the stickers would start again. While I don't advise doing it, it did work Thankfully he never got caught!

We had an issue with this too, cause when our guests came over they had to park somewhere else cause the house next door were renters and there were a couple of them.

DH spoke to the owner who is very respectful and they no longer park here, only once in a while.

i agree with another poster about moving your cars to the street whenever possible hopefully they will get the hint from that

I would start parking your cars in the street infront of your house and space them apart enough than you take up more room but another car can't fit inbetween yours, KWIM???

Our neighbors do the SAME thing. Its soo annoying! I started to park my car in front of our house just so they couldnt park there! It took about 2 weeks of me doing it but they did stop. They probally thought i was crazy at 1st, i have a entire empty driveway yet my cars in the street. We just started to park in our driveway again and so far fingers crossed its been about a week since they parked infront of our home!

SO AGGRIVATING!!
we live next to a home for adults with mild retardatioin, the workers would park in front of the house. They would park from 9am to 5pm..and they didnt EVEN LIVE HERE.
Our house was vacant before we moved in so it was community parking.
we went next dorr and complained then would park our cars in front of the house. Also, made sure on weekends to bring both cars out front to double block front of house. It was VERY bit-chee of me but whatever..wen friends came over they had no where to park.
NOW the workers park back away from my house and most people understand don't park in front. Im very Long Island and if I wanted no parking id live in Queens.
