1. Do u nap when baby naps 2. How often do u bathe dc 3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out 4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas 5. What is your day like
1. nope. i make dinner, clean the house, wash dishes and laundry and play with my toddler
2. every 2 or 3 days
3. yup. she's been out to eat, the park and a few stores. i don't let anyone get near her. i go out almost every day with my toddler and my mom watches my newborn so we can spend time together. i can't possibly stay in the house, especially with my son.
4. absolutely! i bought her a ton of clothes and toys. she'll have lots to open on christmas morning
5. me, DS and DD are all up and dressed by 8am. while DS is eating breakfast, i prepare dinner and clean all the bottles. the 3 of us then play until DS's nap at 10:30. then DD and i spend time together. when DS gets up, we go for a walk or play some more. then we go out after lunch either all together or just DS and myself. at around 5 i make dinner and DH is home at 6.
it is 1000 times easier when i just had one baby. having 2 that are only 16 months apart makes me way more active than i ever was with just DS. when it was just DS, we were a lot more relaxed but i always made dinner and kept the house, dishes and laundry clean.

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
1. Do u nap when baby naps No. On the days when I'm exhausted I say I am going to, but it never happens. The first few days home I did and it made me feel worse.
2. How often do u bathe dc Everynight since her cord came off
3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out Yup! I cannot stay in the house anymore. I bundle her up
4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas Laugh & Learn Puppy, her first Barbie and her first cabbage patch doll.
5. What is your day like she has been getting up around 10. I giver her a bottle. She is usually up and looking around..so I put her in the bouncy while I shower. I change her then put her in the swing so I can get some things around the house done. I try to head out if I have errands to run around 11:30-12. After her second bottle I put her on her belly for some tummy time. She usually takes a nap..her third bottle is usually between 4-5. I start dinner. 730 she gets a bath after bath she gets a bottle. Then she goes right into her bassinet.

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
DS is 10 days old.
1. Do u nap when baby naps: During the day I take a nap. Either my mom or MIL come to my house everyday and have been a great help doing things for me around the house.
2. How often do u bathe dc: I sponge bathe him 2 days a week. I do clean him with a baby wipe daily.
3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out: DC has not gone out yet except to my parents house and ped. I'm weary of taking him out at all until he gets his shots in 2 months. I don't know what I'm going to do for Xmas since my cousins have very young kids and are constantly sick...
4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas: probably stocking stuffers. I have to get the stocking first!
5. What is your day like: BF, eat breakfast, clean up kitchen, BF. Once my mom and/or MIL get to the house, I take a shower, do my to do list, nap. DS gets play time on the swing and bouncer, visitors come by, then BF, BF, BF. I feel like before I know it 2.5 -3 hours has passed and DS needs to eat again. So I don't get much free time to do my own things.

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
1. Do you nap when baby naps When I only had one child, yes. Since I have a 2 year old and a 10 week old that don't nap at the same time, no.
2. How often do u bathe dc Every 3 days for the 10 week old. Every day or other day for the 2 year old. It depends upon what we are doing.
3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out Yes. We started going to mommy and me classes at 6 weeks old. We went out a couple of times before that - perhaps 5 times, to the ped., once to the mall, and to a wedding.
4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas For hanukkah she is getting books, sophie the giraffe, and two dolls.
5. What is your day like Well since I have two kids it is fitting things in for both of them. What I do for DD is tummy time, story time, dance time, nursing, burping, changing, talking, playing with toys - rattle, stuffed animals and talking with different voices/animal sounds, squeek toys, bouncer time, swing time.

DD is 3 weeks old
1. Do u nap when baby naps - I sleep in after her early AM feeding until the next one.

5. What is your day like - I get up early feed her, go to sleep for 2-3 hours. Get up shower, get her ready, go to my Mom's, head back, get dinner ready....its pretty normal.

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
Riley is no longer a newborn, but I'll try to help anyway!
1. Do u nap when baby naps I rarely ever did...I tried, but it was so hard. My mind would just race with everything I wanted to do on "me" time! 2. How often do u bathe dc When she was a newborn, every 2,3 days I think. I was really concerned about her skin with her EB (blistering). 3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out I pretty much never went out. GO OUT!!! For your own sanity- find a way!!!!! 4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas Yup, just got her some developmental toys 5. What is your day like back then? BF change, find a way to get the baby to sleep. BFing made me feel like I was stuck indoors- but now that you're starting to pump, really really make a point to get out and do things for YOU!!!

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
I remember newborn life very well...
1. Do u nap when baby naps
Never! He only napped for 30 minutes - that would have been torture to just get in good and then be woken up.
2. How often do u bathe dc
I bathed him about 2 times a week - he had a lot of hair and it looked greasy every few days...
3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out
Even though I had a c section, he was out and I was driving at about 10 days old - but he was an April baby
4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas
Cailen was 8 mts old byt then - so I guess this doesn't apply
5. What is your day like
My day was long and hazy since I was alone most days. I would wake up early or still be up from the night watch some TV and then go for a loooong walk (so he could take a long nap - he still only naps when in motion) I would go to Dunkn Donuts and get 2 giant cups of iced coffee, bring them home with me and drink them all through the day....

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
1. Do u nap when baby naps
No way. I have had a construction crew in my house, and a 20 month old - not an option.
2. How often do u bathe dc
Every other day.
3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out
Here and there but mostly just to my in-laws house/mom's just b/c it's so difficult to coordinate leaving the house with both kids. He has been to stores, in the carrier, with the cover down, or in the stroller for walks - but he hasn't gone out too much.
4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas
I got him the rainforest stacker from One Step Ahead. He will have plenty of toys from Ryan - figured I'd get him one new thing. And pacifiers for his stocking LOL
5. What is your day like
Morning is sacred. Colin generally is "up" around 6AM to be nursed. I can nurse him and go back to sleep for an hour or so. At that point I put him in the swing and do my stuff while Ryan is still sleeping - coffee, shower, pump, straighten up. I usually have an hour or so to do this.
Then I get Ryan and we watch Sesame, play, have breakfast while Colin sleeps. Then when he wakes, Ryan has to play around us while I nurse Colin and attend to him.
12PM is Ryan's naptime. I usually have Colin on my lap for most of this - or back in the swing while I have lunch, clean up a bit.
Afternoon - same story really unless we see someone - my mom, or sister in law.
DH gets home around 4:30. If it's nice enough, we walk the neighborhood and ck out lights/decorations.
Colin generally sleeps around our dinner time and wakes after I put Ryan down for bed.
He's up usually between 8-10:30PM or so with gas - some nights worse than others. I lay down with him for the night about 10:30/11 and we sleep on the pull out couch in the den. He's up every 2-3 hrs to be nursed.
Repeat.
He is 6 wks tomorrow.

Re: newborn moms- sone questions
1. Do u nap when baby naps Rarely. If I napped when the baby naps, then nothing would get done in my house.
2. How often do u bathe dc Every 2-3 days. She has eczema and dry skin, so we were told not to bathe her too frequently.
3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out I've taken her out every day since she was 2 weeks old. I would've lost my mind if I stayed in the house.
4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas We don't celebrate xmas, but I've been buying her clothes whenever they're on sale. I didn't bother with toys, since we have them from DS.
5. What is your day like It really varies. When I was out on maternity leave, I would take her out shopping or to the grocery store and spend the rest of the time doing stuff around the house. It was rough at the beginning because she wanted to nurse every 2 hours and cluster feed from midnight to 4 am. I always felt like I had a countdown between feeds to get things done until the next feed. Between the laundry, dishes, cooking, taking a shower, and picking up stuff around the house I sometimes felt like my whole day was gone! That's why I made a point to take her out once a day, even for a few minutes just to feel human again and not chained to my house. Now that she's STTN and I've gone back to work, it's better!

1. Do u nap when baby naps 2. How often do u bathe dc 3. Have u taken dc out yet or do u go out 4. Are you getting dc anything for Xmas 5. What is your day like
1) I TRIED to nap when he did but I was pumping so I did that when he napped, then I couldn't settle down, I felt like my house was messy etc....I tried to get some more zzz's in when my DH came home from work for a few hours.
2) As a tiny newborn every 2 - 3 days.
3) We started taking him for walks outside at 2 weeks old (in the summer) but we took him to restaurants, etc at 6 weeks old.
4) My DS is older than yours so I am getting him a music table, stuff like that
5) My days when he was a newborn were a blurry fog But I pretty much spent the first 6 weeks or so in the house with him or going for walks. Once he was a little older and I felt more secure, it went like this: Wake up, bottle, get dressed for the day, play a little while, then nap for him, shower for me, then he woke up, another bottle, then we would go out to the store or something - I always had stuff to exchange at BRU etc, or even if I just walked around Target, it made a difference in my day - then come home, another bottle, more play time, nap, then wake up, bath time, play and bedtime...
One thing I would like to suggest is for new moms to take a shower in the beginning part of your day and get dressed - if the baby is napping OR you can put them in the bouncy seat in the bathroom with you - for me, it made a huge difference - I felt ready for the day and ready to go out. It helped! Made me feel human again.
