Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I think that my BCP is causing bad side effects and I want to change methods. I would love to hear about your experiences with the non hormonal IUD. Was the insertion of it painful? Did it make your periods worse? Any other side effects. Thanks in advance !

Re: Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I had the copper T. I had a horrific experience.
I think the insertion was painful but I may have blocked the whole experience. I do remember the removal wasn't terrible. Probably cause I was thrilled.
14 day heavy periods.
Infection from hell.
Moved out of place (can lead to pregnancy if it moves).
Yeah not a fan.

Ugh, see this is what I am so scared about. I read these kinds of stories on the internet. I'm so torn.

Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I have had a great experience with the paraguard IUD. The first few months I had heavy periods but since then things have been normal. No negative side effects. I have had it since 2007. Insertion hurt but it was very fast.

Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I HATED the paragard with a PASSION. I had very heavy periods (a super huge pad every hour during the day for 3/4/5 days), cramping (throughout the month too, not just when AT came, although then it was 100 times worse), clots (and not just little ones) , etc. Dr said things should be better after 6 months. I had it taken out at just over a year because NOTHING got better. I personally would never recommend it to anyone.

Re: Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I'm scheduled to get it on 3/1. Have always had issues with birth control (have switched brands 5 times) and am done with the hormones. I figure I'll give it a try and see what happens..

Re: Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
My first three months were good... Heavy periods but manageable and no intermittent bleeding. January all hell broke lose - constant cramping and bleeding. Can't feel strings. Called gyn to get it removed but have to wait a month :(

Re: Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I had it. The first several months the periods were horrifying. The cramps were off the hook. It triggered my IBS and I was so sick.
Then it got suddenly better. I loved it after that. I never had to worry and it was so easy.
SO, if you can get through the first few months, it's great. However, I will say they told me it was worse for me because I did it befroe I ever had a kid and my uterus was all small

Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I've had it for a year and a half. Insertion was bad, I almost passed out. Periods are still fairly heavy, last anywhere from 5-7 days with 1-2 days that are extremely heavy. I'm happy with it. Did have some issues with the strings in the beginning (they were hanging out during my period), but went and had them cut and no problems since.

Re: Non hormonal iud ( cooper iud)
I have had the Paraguard for the last 3 years. Very heavy periods for about the first 8 months after I had it inserted, but my body has adjusted and everything is normal now.
Insertion didn't hurt at all and there was no spotting or cramping after I had it put in.
