nut allergy moms??/
Are sunflower seeds part of nut allergies. I know that sounds stupid but I want to make sure that I dont send my daughter to school (nut free) with something that could harm another kid. Knowing its not a true Nut.

I know my school district is nut free and they serve sunbutter at lunch. So I think you are fine.

I would think sunflower seeds would be ok for a nut-free school since they are two different things. Someone can have a sunflower seed allergy in addition to a tree nut allergy, but they are not related.

Re: nut allergy moms??/
It is definitely not related to nuts. My DS is allergic to peanuts and all tree nuts, and he can safely eat sunflower seed butter!
Thank you for your concern for the nut allergy kids!!

My DS's allergist said sun flower seed butter is fine but to avoid sesame seeds because there is a greater chance of having a sesame allergy if you have a nut allergy.
