Re: Official Healthier Lifestyle/Weight Loss Success Story Thread
THANK YOU!!!
I consider myself a success story because I have been working out & eating healthy for 20 years. I know a lot of people don’t consider me a success, but I have been working out & sacrificing for all this time and I think that is an accomplishment too... I would love to eat more junk food & snacks and not go to the gym when I am tired and sleep more, but I made a commitment to myself to be healthy, so I get myself out of the bed when I am tired and I make healthy choices when I really want fast food and I eat fruit when I really want a cookie.
I started when I was 18. I did a fitness competition when I was 25, the first pic is from then. The 2nd pic is from January. TWENTY YEARS, I am proud of myself
…and it shows that at almost 40 you can be fit without personal trainers and personal chefs and tons of gym time. I actually don’t work out that much compared to what I hear most people saying they do, it’s almost all what I eat (I don’t eat processed foods). I mostly do body weight exercises, kettle bell work & I run stairs. I do not do ‘cardio’ at all, I go hiking, I walk and yes, I run stairs outside, but I don’t go to the gym & do cardio regularly. I go to the gym about 3 days a week.

Re: Official Healthier Lifestyle/Weight Loss Success Story Thread
I'll play
Before I got married, I was in tremendous shape, but then I had Alex and fell off the wagon. Right before I got PG with Yael I got back into shape and was at my smallest, around 130lbs, size 6.
Post-baby, in September, 2009, I weighed about 160lbs. When I weaned her, in January, 2010, I started getting back into a healthier lifestyle. I rejoined WW, started watching what I eat more carefully, and started walking about 2-3 miles a day.
In October of this year, 2010, I started running again, which I LOOOOOOVE.
So, now, a little over a year later, I weigh about 125lbs, size 4/6 and feel GREAT!!
Here are some before pics, from summer, 2009, after I had Yael, and a recent picture taken about a week ago at a preschool fundraiser... Image Attachment(s):

It's a daily 'job' to prepare healthy food & pack & bring to work or figure out what to order to make smart choices, but I don't mind... I love the results!
Not a success story? Please! This takes serious hard work and determination. It's the hardest thing for people to be super diciplined and to stick to it. Awesome and inspiring!

Re: Official Healthier Lifestyle/Weight Loss Success Story Thread
Thanks for the tip on how to post the pics. I've lost even more weight since these pictures were taken but I don't have any recent pictures uploaded. The after pics is when I was probably down around 65 pounds.

Re: Official Healthier Lifestyle/Weight Loss Success Story Thread
I love picture threads. You all look amazing!
I don't have dramatic pics to share. I am just a mom trying to go back to my pre-baby body.
I was always naturally skinny. I did play sports and was active, but I could eat 20 candy bars a day and never gain weight. Then I had 3 kids in just over 2 years and of course getting older I am losing that great metabolism... first pregnancy gained 56 lbs and lost all but 3 lbs... second pregnancy (twins) gained 75 lbs and currently lost it all! Working on those 3 lbs left over from pregnancy #1 and lost 1/2. Only 2.5 to go and I did it! My goal for this is May 31 to be ready for beach season. I may be 30, drive a minivan, and have 3 kids, but I REFUSE to look that way. As a mom of 3 little ones it is so hard to find the time to work out. This is the ONLY thing I do for myself so it is my priority. The kids go down for a nap and I run for the treadmill. I started running on the treadmill when the twins were 7 weeks old. It didn't take long for me to get back into it, I have been a runner on and off since high school. By the time they were 4 months I was running 5k races often. They are now 7 months old and I am planning on running the LI half marathon May 1. I also did the Insanity workouts which really helped to tone. I did it hardcore for the first 6 weeks, but had to put that program aside for now because of the half marathon.... there is no way I could keep up with running long distances and doing those month 2 workouts at the same time! Just insane! I am not a diet fan. I have always been an unhealthy and picky eater. I am trying to make healthier choices and still eat what I like but make some limits. I wont eat more than 2 candy bars a week now and no joke I used to eat 1-2 per day. I am also trying to limit by bagels and bacon. I used to eat 2-3 whole eggs per day but now I only eat 1whole and will add just whites if I want more. So do not take food advice from me! I am just trying to make small changes and hope that eventually will lead to a healthier diet.
A couple days before the twins were born in late July 2010. Yes, I was gigantic!
And here is 6 months post partum, early Feb 2011.

Re: Official Healthier Lifestyle/Weight Loss Success Story Thread
I'm really loving all your stories and pics. It just goes to show you, you must do what works for YOU. We may have different goals and different bodies but our basic feelings are the same.
I will have before/afters soon for my current loss (15 pounds in 2 months) but here are a few from the last time I did this. I'm not as concerned as I used to be with numbers because we all carry weight differently... My goal weight at the last picture is 170. I'm 5'9" and believe it or not, I'm really comfortable at that number!
2004, 250 pounds:
2005
2006, this is two months before our wedding, after really working hard and getting my front teeth fixed. I never, ever smiled fully in pictures for years and years.
June, 2006 at 170. Total lost - 60 pounds
Here's a comparison, one year, 60 pounds. Same dress, no alterations:

i joined w.w. the year before i got married. i lost 25 lbs before the wedding. after the wedding, it was a struggle. i would be up and down. i kept going to the gym, so that was a help. dh joined w.w. in 5/09. once he joined, the weight was coming off. he blamed himself for my struggle. he would bring the food into the house. i don't blame him. he's been there through my whole journey. he was beside me as i hit lifetime on 1/8/11. its not easy but it could done. before pic...11/04 after 1/11

My Gosh! Colleen and Lisa you look AMAZING!!!
I Started WW in July of 2010. After many failed attempts to try on my own, I decided it was time to hop on the wagon. I didn't want to use the "I have 2 kids" excuse anymore. I wanted to do it for ME and for my kids! I wanted the energy to chase them around and play with them!
I still have some more to go, but, staying with it and going to keep on going.
This pic. was taken in March of last year in FL: IMAGE
And This is Me 50lbs lighter just recently: IMAGE
I seriously the WW program!

Re: Official Healthier Lifestyle/Weight Loss Success Story Thread
my story is a little different (isn't it always ;) )
I yo-yoed with my weight my whole life- nothing major- 10-15 lbs
Last November I noticed I was losing weight with out trying
for a girl that yo-yos- this seemed pretty cool
I went from a 6 - about 130 to a 4 to a 2 to a 0 to 00 by April
then came the end of April
00 was HUGE on me
I was 94lbs- constantly thirsty, eating all the time and now I felt like crap
I went to the doctor- it turns out I have type 1 diabetes- no family history
From that- I have been reborn
I had to change my whole life- and I took it as a positive change
I got out of the hospital around May 20 I was still super skinny- but I was bloated with fuilds from the hospital- I could barely stand let alone walk
I realized that if I was going to be able to handle this- I needed to take things under my own control
I went to FL- I took a natural directic and after 5 days- I looked more normal
I came home determined to get my life back-
I started to walk
I started to run
I hurt my knee, my ankle, my back
I didn't care- I was weak- I hired a personal trainer
I kept running
I joined the gym
I went back to the doctor
they lowered my insulin
with this change- I didn't need to eat to stop my sugar from going low
I refined my diet- I cut back on carbs- the real enemy of a diabetic
I started going to boot camp 3 times a week
I am in the best shape of my life- I have muscles where I never had muscles before
4 months ago I couldn't walk- today I can run 4 miles like it's nothing
as much as I love looking great- I feel healthly
I used to not be able to wake up before 8 or 9am- now I am up at 6 or 7 to work out
it's not easy- I spend a lot of time and money searching for the healthiest food for me- I cook now- I bring lunch to work I plan a head- no eating on the run anymore, no soda, no fast food- which isn't easy with my career
but when your health depends on it- it's amazing what you can do and how you can change
