I know A LOT of people lurk on boards that they don't really belong on themselves.

Every time I give my friend an update on my TTC situation she'll say, "Oh yeah, I read your thread on Infertility"

I'll post on Infertility, get 5 replies but a few hundred views. There are a lot of lurkers out there across the boards. And there are many girls who lurk on TTC, then finally post after several months and many more who stay on TTC for months and months when in all honesty their issue is probably more Infertility but that's hard to admit.

I know I lurk on pregnancy and parenting because so many of the girls I was wedding planning with are already over on those boards Someday soon for me

I just don't have that much to say!

- With LIW, it was one thing because it had a point -- I'm spending loads of time on LIW because I'm planning my wedding and need help -- but here, there's no focal point for me, so I just read things that catch my eye from time to time
- I'd rather stay quiet than start or contribute to drama
- I try not to post too many identifiable things on the internets

I lurk on the other boards (and occasionally post) like TTC and Infertility. I have learned so much from those two boards already that it amazes me how little I knew before LIF.

I understand. Well I have a feeling alot of those lurkers are that for some specific reason. They know of a certain member that is on the boards and they are just plain being nosy.

I get so mad at DH if he ever mentions LIF to anyone. This is MY site and I don't want people snooping around on here!

OK, I'll fess up because I really am a true lurker. Been since I started planning my wedding back in 2003 and then made the switch to LIF. I frequent all of these boards. Sorry if that freaks anyone out. I enjoy reading it for a few reasons (and I read mostly all the boards almost daily). Mostly because I think it is a good resource to hear what other woman have to say about things. It is like my google. Sometimes I come here first before I even go to google. Also because I feel like a lot of people's stories I have been following for so long. I won't name names because I don't want to freak anyone out any further than they might be. If I have something specific to say where I think I can add value I usually FM that person. I maybe had a little over 100 posts on LIW and probably not 1 here (you'll see once I post this). I think I may have FM'd one or two people about something specific if I thought I can help.

As far as why I don't post, for me i think it is because I feel that although this is the internet and it is somewhat anonymous, I know that probably all my friends and family know about this little "addiction" addiction of mine and if I started participating it would be totally not anonymous because they would see it. I can just see one of my friends saying "oh, i saw what you said on LIF -- blah blah blah". I don't know, probably sounds weird but that is my reason. SO, maybe now with this icebreaker I may start posting regularly but we'll see.

I only posted to add some insight. I'm not a stalker, I just enjoy what you girls have to say and feel like with some of you it goes back a long time.

yes, i was an liw bride. I got married in 2004. I don't think you're being rude -- i just see that you were curious so i responded. It's a fair question.

I put the word "addiction" in quotes because i'm not sure if that is the right word. Like I said, I guess i find the boards useful, entertaining and quite relevant to my life. For the most part you are all around the same age as me, some are newly and not so newly married, contemplating children and/or having children, struggling with job issues and most living in the same geographical area although I am an LI transplant ( i live in Northern NJ). So, I just genuinely enjoy hearing what you girls (and some guys) have to say. And why I don't post, maybe it is just a personal decision. I don't expect people to necessarily understand it but it is just a choice I make. Maybe it just takes this one time to break the ice and I'll be more open about it. Who knows. But what I do know is that I will continue to look at these boards frequently because I enjoy them.

but just so we're clear, I was a former LIW bride. I probably stopped going to that board in late 2004 once all the wedding stuff was out of my system.

I was MrsM which is funny because someone on this board has that name. If you look back you'd probably see that most of my posts were more wedding questions and answers. I didn't really socialize too much but chimed in when I had a question or thought someone could benefit from something I learned in the process.
