I don't even know what a PET scan is! He's at one of the best hospitals in Philly so I was relying on the doctor's knowledge, but when I visit him today at the hospital I'll definitely inquire about it.
 Many hugs to you and your family. I just saw this, so I thought I would offer more info. A PET scan is a great test, but one of the criteria for doing it is that the patient have no active infection. The PET can "light up" for cancer, but also for infection, so if there is any question he has any sort of infection, it really won't answer the question. I hope you are doing okay and that they are getting closer to a diagnosis for your dad.
