FWIW… there was a CoVid positive case in my small office of 10. I’m still concerned
I know a lot of people with Covid right now, it's really not that shocking.
. No, it’s not shocking or even surprising.
My kids had CoVid and I didn’t catch it so my concern is tempered by that but then there is those who have died from CoVid - one particularly horrific. Plus, one of my kids still has not fully recovered. I’m my own worst enemy. I’m most concerned with lasting effects of it should or when I contract it

Omicron - just in time for the holidays
What I find interesting is all these breakthrough Covid Cases now. I’m just wondering if Covid likes vaccinated people better. Kinda like a dude who loves woman who are hard to get so he goes after those ones only lol

Re: Omicron - just in time for the holidays
Friends of ours just had Covid and they were told by the contact tracer that those vaccinated with Pfizer are seemingly having the breakthrough cases while Moderna vaxxers are okay. Who knows? I"m so over it. I'll get nervous if the death rate starts to climb again.

Re: Omicron - just in time for the holidays
We got an email from our school district that cases have gone up from before Thanksgiving. Mostly in the elementary schools. I am praying that schools do not close again.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t if the hospitals are not overwhelmed. Just because someone is positive doesn’t even mean they are sick.

I would think it would be ok if there aren't a large number of quarantines. I know a good number of teachers in our district are vaccinated so they would only have to quarantine if they themselves were sick.
ETA - I know Windy that they could still spread it but they don't have to quarantine if vaccinated.

From the state website:
Asymptomatic individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need to quarantine after exposure to COVID-19. Fully vaccinated individuals should be tested for COVID-19 between the third and fifth day after exposure and must wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until receiving a negative test result. Fully vaccinated is defined as being 2 weeks or more after either receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or 2 weeks or more after receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine.
Asymptomatic individuals exposed to COVID-19 who have been previously diagnosed with laboratory confirmed COVID-19, and have since recovered, are not required to retest and quarantine within 3 months after the date of symptom onset from the initial COVID-19 infection or date of first positive diagnostic test if asymptomatic during illness.

Thanks.
I do know contact tracers though who have told vaccinated individuals that they need to quarantine. The schools are actually the most well versed with guarantine protocols.

Omicron - just in time for the holidays
My children's school hasn't had a single case yet this year but I know it's coming. Only my youngest, who is in Kindergarten, would have her whole class closed if someone tests positive. Grades 1 and up are only those sitting next to the positive individual. PreK and K, the whole class closes.

I loathe this “rule”. Had a small outbreak in my kids school because fully vaccinated emoyees who were vaccinated back in Feb/March/April when teachers were getting the vaccine didn’t have to quarantine when someone in their house was positive. Surprise surprise they ended up being positive and so did some of their coworkers. Obviously they wore a mask when with the kids but when they are together I guess mask rules don’t apply. THIS RULE MAKES NO SENSE!

It makes absolutely no sense. Just like unvaccinated need to be tested but vaccinated do not. We all know now that vaccinated can get sick too so while most unvaccinated are fine being tested, they feel the vaccinated should have to also as they could be sick and getting everyone sick also.

Omg the damn media is scaring people. I was at the testing place THREE friggin hours yesterday. It was ridiculous. I hear people talking how they just want to be tested because they are going here or there and want to make sure. I usually walk in and out. I bet if they didn’t go around scaring people, it would be the normal work people, surgery needed tests and maybe any exposure. Nothing like how it was yesterday.

It is insane as people just follow blindly and believe anything told to them. I am hoping next week is better so I don’t waste hours and hours on my day off because people are scared over a few cases whom don’t seem to be very sick, hospitalized and or died.

Omicron - just in time for the holidays
I was exposed to COVID last weekend. I went to get tested on Thursday, five days after exposure. I am fully vaccinated but I am well aware that I can still get COVID, so I got tested just to be safe. I am negative, but I'm glad I went. My children are not vaccinated, many of my students are not vaccinated. If I had it, people I was in contact with would need to quarantine. So, no I am not scared at all of this new variant and wouldn't have been scared if I tested positive. I tested because it was the right thing to do, being that I am around a lot of people each day, and I don't know everyone's health history. I may have exposed someone who was high risk. Luckily it was a moot point because I'm fine, but not everyone is getting tested out of fear. I'm sure some are, but many have valid reasons.

Omicron - just in time for the holidays
I think there is too much testing which drives the numbers up but that being said it makes no sense. How long does it take from exposure to coming up positive on a test? I could walk in get tested, be negative but go to the supermarket after and be unknowningly exposed and now I have it but I think I don't because the test came up negative.
Last 2 variants the news comes out OMG its Armageddon!!! Then 2 days later "oh good news the new variant seems to only produce mild symptoms"

There is definitely too little testing being done. People just assume it’s a cold or allergies if it’s a mild case and walk around infecting others.
My son had Covid in October and I honestly could’ve blown it off. He had a low grade fever (100) for maybe 12 hours on a Friday evening. By the time I got him tested on Saturday, he had no fever. He tested positive.

Re: Omicron - just in time for the holidays
That could be said for stomach bugs, common cold, strep anyone you come in contact with at anytime could have a contagious condition, Should we all live in a bubble? Most cases are mild and I know, it could be deadly to the elderly or the immune compromised but so could a stomach bug.

Right? So from now until kingdom come we have to rush to get tested every time we or our kids sneeze ? I'd be getting tested daily.

I think there is too much testing which drives the numbers up but that being said it makes no sense.
Did you always run to the doctor before this pandemic?
Everyone could be infecting others for all different viruses as most don't run to the doctor every time they sneeze or cough and shouldn't.
It took me 3 hours this weekend because the media is scaring them into thinking they are all sick so there is a lot of testing being done and how many are false positive's? I am sure not all positive are true.
