Parents who are against covid vaccine mandates
If the title of the post doesn’t apply to you then pls just move on and don’t turn this into a drama thread.
*********** Healthcare workers and teachers are fighting back and winning! So now a teacher in the NYC DOE isn’t being forced to be vaccinated but if your child wants to play in orchestra, with a mask no less, they have to get the vaccine? Parents NEED TO FIGHT BACK. If we give in this will never end for our kids! Let the healthcare workers and teachers be an example to us- parents can and should be more powerful than a union! Someone is fighting for them! Who is fighting for our children!?

Parents who are against covid vaccine mandates
The decision in the NYS healthcare worker case is ONLY regarding the lack of available religious exemption. And it is, at this point, a TEMPORARY injunction - again, only regarding the religious exemption issue. It is not a "win" against the mandate at this point.
And, since you asked, "who is fighting for out children", if you really feel that strongly about it, you can (just as the 17 healthcare workers did) retain an attorney and bring a lawsuit seeking a restraining order also (if a mandate is ever put in place for children). YOU can be that person

WRONG!!! It IS a win. Even temporary is more time for someone who is in this position and having a religious exemption is a constitutional right that was taken away from our children in NY so this IS again another win for these workers and teachers and precedent. And yes, I WILL be that person if it ever impacts my kids but, strength in numbers. Me standing alone won’t make a bit of difference but in mass, change happens.
Thanks for following my request not to engage unless this post applied to you which clearly it does not - what exactly was the point of your post?

You should know better...
But on topic, if it does become a mandate for kids I will stand with you and yes, retain an attorney.

The point of MY post is that YOUR post misinterprets what the INTERIM decision says in the healtchare workers case. Nothing in that case is final. And it only applies to those who have a request for a religious exemption - which is a very small percentage of healthcare workers. It does not apply to those who are not seeking a religious exemption.

Re: Parents who are against covid vaccine mandates
Ha no drama.
She is not a parent nor against the Covid vaccine but HAD to post. Trying to prove you or anyone wrong is all she seems to have in life. Sad.
Parents need to fight as much as they can.

Frist of all, are you a parent? Do you have kids in K-12? This post was addressed very clearly to PARENTS - so, if it doesn't apply to you then WHY are you on here posting anyway
Second, even if you are a parent, this post still doesn't apply to you - I'm still not getting the point of your post and what you are even getting at. My post definitely DOES NOT misinterpret any decision. I don't even understand what you are talking about? Where did I say anything was final? I am an attorney and I understand the situation I'm sure better than you do. I said that healthcare workers and teachers are fighting back and winning. They are suing and not complying - that is fighting back isn't it? Maybe your definition of "winning" is different than mine. To me - a TRO IS a win in this situation as I already stated. AND - we are talking about TWO! I could go on and on but suffice to say - It buys time, it entertains the case without dismissing it outright AND the fact that it applies to the religious exemption is another win given that NY is one of the very few states that have taken the religious exemption away from K-12 children as applies to vaccine mandates. The fact that a judge would take issue with the removal of an exemption in this context is a WIN even if it is not now or ever is final!
Your post is pointless, you don't even belong on here and you are turning this into a drama thread instead of post that was meant for like minded individuals who may need a plan in the near future to protect their children. I don't have time to debate with you anymore, I'm done - if you are that bored please start your own thread and post there.

Re: Parents who are against covid vaccine mandates
God forbid anyone should admit that maybe, just maybe, these mandates are not legal. God forbid we shouldn't be forced to vaccinate our children with this vaccine. It kills them to even think a parent might be given a CHOICE for THEIR child. God forbid we should have any hope in this distressing situation that has been making us sick for months now.
GOD FORBID!!!!!!

I never said the mandates were legal or not. The original post miscontrues what has happened as of now - so any discussion based off of that is misdirected. If you want to have a real, fact based discussion, it has to start with actual facts. Unless of course you just want to have a discussion that only feeds your own narrative?

Re: Parents who are against covid vaccine mandates
I am against vaccine mandates but I am not against restrictions for those that choose or can not get vaccine. Everyone makes choices for themselves and those choices have consequences. If someone chooses not to get a vaccine and can't play in the band because it poses an additional threat to those that are vaccinated; that is a consequence.

But does an unvaccinated person pose a threat to a vaccinated person? Or do all people pose a threat to each other because it's been proven that vaccinated people can GET AND SPREAD Covid. Sounds like a false sense of security that the whole band is vaccinated.

While there can and are breakthrough cases...there is a difference between unvaccinated and vaccinated. You see that is the rates of hospitalization and deaths for those over 18. The hospitalization rate for Delta in children is frightening to me as well. The whole band being vaccinated and masked does mitigate the threat.

No, the fight is not over but these injunctions are a positive move for the medical freedom movement. If a judge issues an injunction than he / she believes that the plantiff’s have a “ likelihood of success on the merits of their case “. It’s a big deal.

I know that. That is my take on it. You have your vaccine- you are protected. You can still get Covid. But it will be less severe. You can still get covid from a vaccinated person. Or an unvaccinated person. So I see no reason to limit certain activities to vaccinated only. The unvaccinated are no more a threat to you than the vaccinated.

But if I understand correctly, and I may be wrong, but the viral load that an unvaccinated person carries is greater which makes it more easily transmitted by that individual. So, if that is true, the unvaccinated would be more of a threat than a vaccinated individual. But again, maybe I have misunderstood that.

All unvaccinated must be punished for the greater good and not to overwhelm the hospitals, I feel like that is the message that is being sent. I am not ready to give this vaccine to my kids. Especially since they are prepubescent

Viral load is similar BUT infectiousness is not. Vaccinated people are less infectious and clear the virus faster.

That is how I feel. The risk of this vaccine to my pre-pubescent child is way greater than the reward for me. And again, that should be the choice of the parent. It's really not that hard. It's really quite simple. All this back and forth and fighting. It all comes down to choice.

Just received an an email stating that teachers have to be tested weekly, and you can opt out by showing proof vaccination. They gave 2 sites that will over testing for teachers. So that means, it will not be done at the school you teach in.
Also, my SIL will not come over our house this weekend for my boys birthday because they are not vaccinated. Everyone that will be here is but them.

I guess she doesn't have much faith in her vaccine working for her. Too bad for her.
